Re: 28 gallon fuel tank

when my gas light comes on i always have about 5-6 gallons still in there, so i can stll drive another 50 miles. i noticed it after filing up i was only getting about 22-23 gallons right after the light would come on.
my gas gauge drops quick right after fill up and from half to empty it takes awhile. don't really want to wait forever at the dealership for install maybe consider before the warranty runs out though.

That's about normal, these gauges aren't real accurate, and mine does the same thing, as soon as the light comes on, it's 21-22 gals to fill back up.
The TSB applies when the gauge stays about 3/4 full even when near empty.

Re: 28 gallon fuel tank

V8NISSANS,

OK, I'm glad to hear you don't have any unusual goals of running low on gas. I guess our gages are just more imperfect than many others! Tonight for the first time, mine sloooowly moved to full after fillup, took about 5 minutes instead of instantly.

HudsonValleyTitan,

Dropping a tank and replacing the sender in a GMC P/U runs 700-800! My mechanic shop wont do it unless we beg them to, particularly on older trucks with 200K already. Thankfully, not all shops are out to rip people off.

Many post have been made of poor gauge operation on the Titans. Our GMCs go bad at 150K fairly often.
