Re: 2007 Truck Comparison on Edmunds

Interesting. The ratings for the engine are greater with more HP & torque for the Chevy, but it's the slowest of the 3. How did it get higher marks than the Titan with poor braking, weak powertrain, 4-spd auto tranny? Because it rides smooth? It's a truck for crying out loud! WTF? By contrast, ugly or not, the Tundra sounds tough to beat. Almost half a second quicker to 60? Gonna be tough on the streets. Nissan needs to up the ante here.... I believe we have been called out.....

no way the silverado should beat the titan in the comparo...but hey, the first year redesigned trucks always win...lame

Ive road in a lot of chevy trucks, not the 07, but all the ones i have road in ride 20x worse than the titan, and i suspect i would feel the same about the 07 too.

Don't go counting those chickens.....Agreed on the past models. The '06 is an 8-year old platform. The '07 is totally redesigned. I imagine it would ride better, but can't say for sure as I've not ridden in one yet either. But with the current trend of softening everything for the pansy American public, I don't expect they left out the suspension of this new truck.

Of course Chevrolet won...what did you expect?

Are these tests fair?

NO...it's all about money!

Advertising dollars: Who will spend more, GM or Nissan?

Re: 2007 Truck Comparison on Edmunds

They forgot to add that the Tundra looks like a Tacoma/F-150 hybrid experiment that went seriously wrong. Plus the Silverado looks like a box on wheels to me and the style is dated IMHO. As for comfort...my wife and I just drove my Titan from St.Paul Minnesota to Edmond, OK round trip over the holidays... neither one of us (or our three toddlers included) complained once about the ride or discomfort of the truck.

I'd rather have the best looking truck on the market, that has very good power and lots of options, than a truck that looks like sh*t and costs an arm and a leg while being nickle and dimed for every option that you want just so I can brag to my wife that I took someone at a stop light in a race that means nothing in the long run except feeding my ego.

Re: 2007 Truck Comparison on Edmunds

i just came from the local car show this weekend, where the new tundra and silverados were open to sit in and look-over. interiors of both the chevy and toyo are nice, can't really go wrong with either. but when it came to rear seat comfort, none of those felt like the titan. now grant you, toyota only had their double cab available, but unless the crewmax is THAT much bigger, it won't stack up. same with the chevy, wasn't impressed with their rear seat offering either. after looking over all the trucks, my wife concluded - "yeah, you picked the right one." in more ways than one

also, in case any of you get the chance to look at the dyno results in the edmunds picture slideshow, it looks like a tuner will do the chevy alot of good. full power didn't come on until 5k+ rpm. and why the titan appears to fall on its face after 5k, while the new tundra keeps on pulling, ????.

Sounds like Titan + coilovers + Deavers + Stillen sway bar beats crap out of Chevy in every department (except antiquated interior). Titan w/ OR package is definitely stiff-legged. Surprising that Titan won in the braking department with the Tundra's 13.9" rotors. Nissan needs to bring a few more ponies to the show quickly. I wonder if TRD will be bringing out a blower. As far as Tundra v. Titan 0 to 60 they were comparing crew cab Titan v. KC Tundra. Is the crew cab Tundra going to be heavier?

Re: 2007 Truck Comparison on Edmunds

What surprised me most was that they claimed the Titans 0 - 60 was 6.7 seconds. MORE than enough for a fullsized truck.

Re: 2007 Truck Comparison on Edmunds

I was not suprised by their assessment

-if price was added, I think our value would have skyrocketed. No ones gonna pay in the 40's for those optional engines

-only .04 behind the Tundra in the 0-60, and .05 in the quarter mile. Pretty impressive I say! Considering we have 64 less horsepower and 16 ft ilbs of tourque less

- umm oh yea, chevy should be embarrased that not only is it slower with that much more HP, but its fuel efficiency is worse???

- looks are subjective I know, but the Titan looks by far the toughest and most rugged for a MAN to drive. Chevy looks ok, but i'm not a fan of the Tundra looks. Maybe when i see one on the road

Re: 2007 Truck Comparison on Edmunds

Had the Titan not finished last Chevy and Toyota would both be in big trouble. It's hard to put that much weight behind this comparison. It should always be the case that the newer trucks have more of this or that because that is what the market is demanding (at least if they've done their jobs right). The Titan is 3+years old + the design time and for that reason alone, it SHOULD lose (technically speaking).

The only real news in that article is that Toyota beat Chevy. It's almost as foolish as comparing the next gen Titan to these two and then chevy and toyota freaking out when they lose...they should lose.

Like I said, news here is Toyota > Chevy.

Re-read the comparo...namely the dyno portion. The Chevy DOESN'T have the claimed HP. And what's worse, GM kills the HP at WOT for 4 FULL SECONDS! WTF is that about....are they morons? And c'mon GM, an old 4 spd tranny?..no wonder GM is on the downslope.
