Lifter tap - Valvoline DuraBlend OK?

I'm running 5w-30 DuraBlend with a Mobil 1 filter, but there is more valvetrain noise than I'd like...and it seems to be happening more frequently. Even when I first had it, there would be a slight tap after a cold start, but it would go away. Now, I'll be driving for an hour, park it, and at idle it'll be tapping. Sounds like a diesel.

I've read many of the oil threads out here, but is DuraBlend good for the Nissan 5.6? I ran it in my Silverado for 7 years & 130,000 miles with zero problems, so I thought I'd stick with it. My personal favorite is Shell Rotella-T 15w-40 which we run in my drag car, but obviously that's too heavy for good cold flow in the Titan. (Used to love Kendall GT-1 too, before the brand went to ConocoPhilips)

Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm probably going to drain and switch to something else soon...

I doubt you'll have any problems. Many have talked about such tapping. Just be sure it's not the injectors or a header leak you're hearing. I'd just leave it for now and try maybe Mobil1 full synthetic at the next change....see it that helps. Others have also used Mobile1 0w-40 with great results. But I wouldn't worry.

See my thread in the Engine/Drivetrain Forum, I'd bet money that you're just hearing the injectors. I'm running Mobile 1 0-40 in my '06 and my lifters and bottom end are dead quiet, the injectors are another story.

We have no lifters, the cam lobe runs on a shim bucket, which pushes on the valve stem to open the valve...
