Smile AEM Brute Force CAI and PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer??

Hello all....
This is my first post but I have been reading the forum for about 6 months. I just purchased a AEM Brute Force CAI system and read that if a throttle body spacer isn't included in the box your vechicle will not benefit from one. I also called a off road shop here in Phoenix, AZ (Desert Rat for you AZ folks) and they said the same thing. I just wanted to get a feel from the forum on what you guys think?? I have done alot of searches on this forum and have not seen this particular subject talked about.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, I will have pics up of my '04 Titan LE Crewcab in a few days.

thanks,

Re: AEM Brute Force CAI and PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer??

Good intake choice, especially for the price. As far as the throttle body spacer, it is purchased separately. It will not automatically come with your intake. As far as the throttle body spacer adding extra horsepower, that is up to you. Some throttle body spacer owners swear that it adds horsepower, other TBS owners say that it does nothing. I had one on my Chevy S10 and thought that it helped. If it does add horsepower, it is very minimal and does not post significant gains on a dyno. It does make a cool whistling sound though.

Thanks Desert Dog, I will do that. I don't want to spend the extra $109 for little to no benefit. Its hard enough to get the wife's permission to purchase upgrades for the truck.

My next upgrade will be a hard fiberglass tonneau cover. Any recommendations? I was thinking the Gaylord traditional cover.

Thumbs up Re: AEM Brute Force CAI and PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer??

I've got both on mine, installed both at the same time. Really don't know if the TBS does much except for a cool sound. Try it with out save your self $100

AEM advertises they include a TBS if they find it beneficial to your vehicle. I don't know of a particular vehicle they include it with, though. That is why he worded his question that way.

I bought both at same time, (same combo you list) do not have an obvious whistle. Would buy it again based upon some dyno reports Ive seen that were not by the Mfg.I'm thrilled with my combination. If you do, do the screen mod to maximize the chance the swirling air will contribute to better low end gains. This is what positive reports have focused on.

Thanks TitanBlue, its interesting that they don't include the TBS in very many kits. Based on what I have read on this and other forums I am inclined to purchase it. In fact I was about to when I was reading the specs from AEM and saw that statement which made me rethink. I will be looking forward to what kind of results Desert Dog finds with his.

My take is that the PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer is supposed to add tremendous gains in mid range power and overall efficiency with a side benefit of better gas mileage. But I am a computer guy and not a car guy so I only know what I research. Which is why I am asking these types of questions on this forum.

Re: AEM Brute Force CAI and PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer??

From what I understand, the TBS creates a vortex with the air that passes through it, which is supposed to be better for the air/fuel ratio. That's it's benefit. I have the AEM with the Poweraid TBS and I am very happy with the results. I got them both at the same time, so I don't know what the performance would be like without the TBS. But make sure you cut out the screen from the O-ring when installing the TBS and/or CAI. Good luck.

Re: AEM Brute Force CAI and PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer??

Search for "Scren Mod". I'm not sure howto link a searched item, sorry.

"Tremendous" would be an over statement. Low to mid range is helped the most. Yes, it is to enhance the A/F mixture. It is worth it in the race for easy performance enhancements. It is clearly efffective when real, reliable test methods are used. Go to the race track, look for a car without it...
