I've got a 05 CC 4x4 SE that I don't drive much and never go off road. I noticed one night while leaving a friend's house, I started spinning while backing up but never saw the slip light come on. I wanted to test the system again so I pulled of the road with one tire in the grass and the other on pavement. I power braked the truck, got the tire in the grass to start spinning, again no slip light. I had a 04 KC 4x2 before this truck and noticed several times while driving the slip light coming on when I would spin. I searched the forums and found a post that said you had to be going at least 5 mph before the abls would work. Can anyone confirm that and give some suggestions?
I'm not sure what to tell you. My slip light comes on (and the engine cuts power) anytime that my back tire breaks loose, even from a stop. Does it bog down when the tire spins? If not, there may be a problem somewhere with your ABLS system. You may have to just let the dealer check this one out.

Didn't feel any cut in power or unusual noise. My 04 with the vdc would fall on its face as soon as you started spinning. My 05 that the question was asked about does not have the vdc.
I have an 07 LE CC 4x2 with the traction thing too, and i've spun my tires many times, specially from a stop when it has been rainin, and i've never seen the slip light come on cept for when the whole dashboard lights up when you start the truck up. few times i'll be turnin onto a road and pretty sure i'm goin 10-15 mph and it'll spin too and light won't come on...that I've seen.

It's very very very brief when it comes on...it won't stay on, it will flash for a second, that's about it.
Is there something with RPM's and defeating the system? If I'm in mud/grass/snow and floor it, I never get the light, and the system never tries to intervene at all.
If I'm driving normally and get a little wheel spin in snow/rain, the system kicks in as normal, with the slip light. (once this starts, if I floor it, the system immediately stops trying to "help"). I've done this multiple times since new, and just always assumed it was tied in to rpm or wheel speed?
**by the way, what color is everyone's slip light? I swear 2 weeks ago when we got snow, I saw the light come on GREEN, then switch to amber. I can't get it to duplicate and I hadn't been drinking, but at the time I was 100% sure I saw green at 1st!

Not trying to be contrary to you, but when my slip light comes on, it stays on until "control" is regained. The newer ones may be different.

On my 04 with the vdc the slip light come on as soon as I would get wheel spin. Don't know if it was the vdc working or the abls. Just noticed the 2 or 3 times I've spun the tires on my 05, the light doesn't even flicker. Guess I'll try to spin more often and see if I can get a result. Mine is amber too when I start the truck. Don't thing I have the trac option either. Also noticed most replys that don't see the light have 05 models. Could be something with the 05's.

If you have a 4X4 then you have ABLS front and rear. The TRAC package is only on 4X2s. My SLIP light comes on and flashes while the ABLS is working. I've noticed it takes a little spinning for it to activate as well. Full throttle spins, in my truck anyhow, will activate the ABLS and flash the light. Unless you have VDC, you shouldn't experience any sort of power loss. If you're that worried, have Nissan check it out.

I have VDC on my truck and the slip light comes on wether it is on or off....I only loose power when i have the vdc on....My lights are also amber.....
I took the truck out today and found some mud and sand. I did get the slip light to come on. It took a lot more spinning and getting on it to get the light to come on than I thought it would. It definitely is not like my 04 that had the vdc system, and that is what I was kinda comparing it to.Thanks to everyone for looking and responding.
I have an 06 4x4 OR w/BT and here in Montana (especially this winter), the slip light comes on very, very frequently (only when I'm in 2-wheel drive however). It really lets you know when those wheels are slipping! So far, I've been able to avoid having the VDC light come on.

We don't know exactly how the ABLS system is set up to work. If may very well be set up that as long as the truck is moving forward enough, it doesn't bother. Which means it would have to see the front ABS sensors to know you're moving. It may try and save the brakes until you're really stuck....or at least moving very slowly like you need help. That's just a guess. It could also be that it's just the nature of the machine....some trucks will kick in the ABLS before others will. As long as the ABLS is working, I'd be ok with it.
