Diff drop with 2" leveling kit??

I'm considering a 2" PRG kit for my stock 2006 CC LE...

My last truck was a 05 CC Tundra, and the wise move with them was to get one of the kits that had a differential drop as to keep the CV angle at less of an angle...I guess the boots had a habit of leaking.

Has anyone done this or is it just not needed on our Titans? Also, is the installation relatively simple? Do the coil springs need to be compressed, and if so, how difficult was it? It is not the easiest thing to do on the Tundras due to very little space between the coils to get the compressor installed.

Thanks for any advice on this. Looking forward to ordering the kit from PRG if you all come back with a bunch of "it's easy" type replies.

The level kit is very easy to put in. It took me about a hour for the first side and about 30 minutes for the second side.

Re: Diff drop with 2" leveling kit??

Most guys don't have issues with the leveling kits and the differential angles. Mine has been fine.

You don't need any special tools, other than a torque wrench. You could get away without a torque wrench but I wouldn't recomend it. The instructions are real good and easy to follow.

I was going to have a leveling kit installed next week. We would of done it ourselves but they said a strut compressor tool was required and also the front end needed to be re-aligned ?

Excuse me. I didn't see the " Diff " part of the post.

You do not need a spring compresser if you are installing prg's level kit. You will need a front end alignment, but you can drive the truck to the shop after you install the level kit. I could not get a appointment until the second day after I installed mine. I needed very little correction. I could not tell anything was wrong by driving the truck. If you don't get it aligned it will wear your tires wrong.

Re: Diff drop with 2" leveling kit??

well in all the searching I've done on multiple forums and with the replies here, I'm feeling pretty confident that a differential drop is not needed. If you were to go look on the Tundra forum, you'd see that it's almost considered irresponsible not to do this...of course the diff drop kit is cheap and easy to do, but I think the boots on the Toyotas have a problem that we just don't have.

I will be ordering the kit tomorrow then!

On one other note, has anyone had any luck with an add-a-leaf for the rear instead of the 1" blocks? Anyone know of a leaf specifically designed for the Titan?

Thanks for the replies and reassurance that this is indeed easy.

Go to the prg website. He is a sponser and might have what you are looking for.
