Problem using utilitrac bed extender

I loaded dirt bikes in my new Titan CC for the first time. I didn't realize that in order to position the Utilitrac bed extender in place, you must have it in the vertical orientation - this is because there are flats in the plastic lugs on the extender that slip into the utilitrac mount and can only go in that way. Well, this is impossible to do with two dirt bike wheels and fenders sitting on the tailgate. I had to use tie downs to wrap around the rear wheels to secure my load. I was bummed!

Anyone else run into this problem?

When I got home, I just unloaded and played around with the mounts - I removed the stops so that I can slide the mounts out past the end of the track, but I can only go so far before it comes completely out of the track. I will see if I can mount the bed extender using this method, but WHAT A HASSLE THIS WOULD BE!!! My F-150 bed extender system was better designed - it clicked in in the normal tailgate down/extender extended orientation. However, this is the ONLY thing better about my Ford...my Titan kicks @ss in every other category so far!!!!

I doubt that the F-150 bed extender was better designed it worked better because it was on a regular sized bed.

I have run into the same problem as you though when hauling a couple of deer and my 4-wheeler at the same time. I solved the problem by taking the guides out of the slides, putting the guides on the extender and then inserting the guides with the extender already attached back into the utilitrack. Kind of awkward but it worked fine.
