Thumbs up Mpg

I just recently joined and have mostly been reading about everything and thought I would throw in some MPG stuff. My job has me traveling 140 per day. I usually get between 14 - 15 MPG. Last week I put on the K/N 77 CAI and the poweraid TBS. All I know now is I'm getting 17.1 - 17.4 MPG now. I don't know if it was the K/N or poweraid. With the TBS I have heard both negative and postive, mostly negative. I guess the CAI is just what you prefer. The driving is on the interstate M-F and I am really happy with the gas improvement, every little bit does help.

Re: Mpg

140 miles + truck = agony.

they just need an excuse to hike gas to 4$.. and they have been trying hard to find one to keep it from falling at the moment as well.

i've gotten 12mpg all highway with the proper headwind, after getting 20 on the same road on the last tank before the wind shifted.

i've just learned to ignore the MPG by now. it's the best "mod" you can do.. learning to ignore it and just drive and enjoy.

Re: Mpg

Tax incentives for motorcycles and a real testing and licensing system for motorbikes would make the whole world have more confidence in bikes and also increase MPG significantly. My motorcycle is a gas hog and gets over 40 highway.

Oh well, wishful thinking. It works in europe.

Re: Mpg

If they would just clean the damned roadways
an fix the holes
I would ride my bike.

Too much road debris
an tire swallowin' cracks an pot holes
to commute on two wheels.

Re: Mpg

Hell people aren't even responsible enough to keep 300+ dollar dogs out of the roadways....not to mention truck bumpers, railroad ties, rims....WTF

I still managed 10,000 dear dodging miles last year, and a lot of saved gas money.

Re: Mpg

LOL, I ain't affriad when I CAN dodge the ****.

On a 5 lane freeway that is movin' 70+ mph bumper to bumper
they just ain't nowhere to dodge.

I took a 7' long piece of heavy plastic sheeting in the grill Friday at 6:30a.

Damned thing hung up on my antenna an nearly tore it off.
Took me over a mile to work my way over to the shoulder.

Torential rain, sleet, 108° heat, 21° cold,
no problem.

Road debris an holes in a highspeed draft
not for me
I'm takin' the cage.

I remember back in the late '70s I was getting 65 to 75 mpg on my Yamaha XS-1100. Then they added emmission controls - dropped it by 25%. oh well.

The roads seem to by 100 times more dangerous to a MC now than then... Hell, people pull out in front of a Titan with all lights going full - had to slam the breaks just the other day... and the crazies have multiplied...

I treat my Titan MPG as an intellectual curiosity - no point in worrying about it... it's so much fun to drive...
