Question Question about Titan warranty options ect.

I did a search on this topic, but didn't find a good thread. Let me know if you do...

I'm about to buy my Titan tomorrow night. I want to be prepared for the finance guy. What warranty options and other added charges are there that the finance guy is going to run by me?

May be dealer specific, but any info you can add I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to go in with a list of options already determined so I can give it to the finance guy and let him know I've already heard everything he's going to want to sell me. Don't want to put up with the bs game.

I've already got my price settled on the Titan and will be walking in with my own credit union loan. If I can get my stuff together now, no surprises tomorrow and I get out of there with my truck faster.

Re: Question about Titan warranty options ect.

Typical offerings are

1. Warranty extensions, usually to 6 or 7 years costing around 2g's or so.
2. Paint sealer - In got offered one called resistol or something.
3. I got a whole shebang about remote starters, which I purchased
4. Lo Jack

That was it for me this time, but when I bought my Saab I also got offered wheel and tire insurance.

Best way to handle these guys is not to be defensive just let them give you a quick pitch and then say no thank you to anything you don't want.

Re: Question about Titan warranty options ect.

Unless you plan on keeping your truck for a LONG time, I'd pass on the extended warranty. 15 Nissans later (I keep em' from 2 to 4 years usually) I've never needed an extended warranty. But if piece of mind is worth $1500+ to you, go for it.

Re: Question about Titan warranty options ect.

5) Gap Insurance
6) Underbody Coating

If your wife/girlfriend starts to think you may "need" any of these, ask the salesperson to step away to discuss (mine was hooked until I explained without the sales pressure)

Make sure that ANYTHING that is not correct or done is put on the bill of sale to be completed. (I had a missing screw cover on the passenger "oh $#!+ handle", and luckily the sales person new it in the beginning, and provided it when I came back, but not all are that nice...)

Re: Question about Titan warranty options ect.

7)Interior protection- just buy some Scotch Guard and do it yourself it you want it.

8)TheftMark- My finance person tried to sneak this in there. Supposedly its some kind of hidden identification mark that will help recover the vehicle if it's ever stolen. $180, but all they do is pay your insurance deductible if the vehicle is not recovered.

Re: Question about Titan warranty options ect.

I think they have a ding and dent protection for $300 over 3 years. I'm gonna pass on that one. So far I think I'm gonna pass all extras up. I'll pay it off early and get a new one after about a year.

I'm going to take the advice above and let him go through all options and kindly tell him no thanks.

Re: Question about Titan warranty options ect.

The extended warranty does NOT need to be purchased at point of sale unless you roll it into the loan. Remote start is not from Nissan so they as well as their price will vary. Some are hooked into an alarm and others are remote start only. Good luck on the purchase and may your new Titan be all you expect.

are you talking about the protectant chemical that is used to apply onto interiors for water proofing? if i were you, i'd be worried. i work for one of the big company that originally made the Perfluoro chemicals (and has stopped so, since 2000 due to health hazards)... and was told that within 20 parts per million you will develop cancer. if you know Perfluorochemicals... it's found everywhere on the planet. Scientist has yet to determine how this man made chemical was found on Polar Bears in the Arctic, humans located in remote areas of Africa, and other living animals that never came into contact with people.

read about it here, if you're thinking about applying some of that chemical from Dupont or the likes:

just thought i'd let fellow Titan owners know, since we're a small tight community.

That's some really nasty stuff. Never thought common items were so harmful.

Re: Question about Titan warranty options ect.

Gap ins, ext. war., etch, life and disability, consumer services(undercoating, interior protection, other b/s charges). The only one to really look at is the gap ins. The gap ins. can be purchased at the time of sale $90.00 to $295.00 depending on the state. If your not putting any or a little money, I personally would have the gap. Gap picks up the difference between what ins. pays and what is owed on the truck. I don't want some dumb@$$ totaling my truck and me oweing a balance on it.
