A 5.6L Pathfinder just shows that Nissan hasn't yet got a grip on the American truck buyer. The ad claims people wanted a V8 Pathy....hogwash! I'd bet not one person said...gimme a V8 in a trucklet!. The 4.0VQ delivers 270 HP and plenty of tq for that truck. Instead, why not use your heads in other areas like....a real LSD rear in the Titan instead of that ABLS stuff. Or a rear end people can have more faith in while hauling a 9k camper uphill in VT! And large enough brakes to stop whuile coming down the other side.
I think Nissan is starting to go off the deep end a bit. They made the Altima sharper and faster than their own Maxima sedan also. Makes no sense at all. All Nissan seems to be worried about is being in every market....even if they don't dominate in any. Now they're coming out with the Rogue....a tiny Murano-like vehicle to compete with the likes of Hyundais' lil' ute. Just because. They'd better wake up though.

Actually they did have a number of people saying they would prefer (or might have bought) a Pathfinder if it had a V8 option. Trust me, the volumes on the V8 are going to be fairly low but you can guarantee the 2010 replacement line up for the Frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra will include the V8 option upfront.

By the looks of your username and location, I would think you are a important person who who works for Nissan Japan.

Well, i got a remote start with a owner recognition feature. It locks the doors when you walk a certain distance away from the truck and then unlocks them when you come close enought.
Hudson, I think you'd be surprised how many people won't buy the Ford Explorer/Mountaineer unless it has the V8. If you look at the volume numbers for 2005 (2006 hasn't been published yet) there were more than 90,000 Pathfinders sold. Of that market for 3-Row SUVs, you could say that maybe percentage would rather have a V8 for some sort of towing that exceeds the capacity of the VQ, even if it was as low as 10% they exist.
Please give me a V8 Frontier. I want the Titan engine in a truck that will fit in my garage. I just test drove the 07 Fronty today and while nice, I can not go back to a V6. I had a 1999 and 2002 Fronty, both 4x4s. Loved them, but slooooooow. If the Fronty had a Titan engine, smooth tranny and was just a tiny bit bigger, I'd be in. But only if it fits in my garage. If it can't then I will stay with a Titan.
