Re: Help me get OUT of this Tundra!

Buy the Chevy, and after a few months we'll be reading that you're unhappy with it, and then you can buy an 08 Titan and join the family.

Re: Help me get OUT of this Tundra!

I just picked up an 06 last month. I really wasn't set on any truck so I drove all of them, some twice. The Titan was the best value, and it fit me (6'4") the best. Have you driven the Chevy? You have to really get on it to get it to move. The more I drive the Titan the more I’m convinced I made the right choice, which is unusual for me. Most of the time after I make a large purchase like a new truck, I see a better deal the next week.

Thanks for the replies...I did not intend to come here and bash your trucks. Sorry if it was taken that way..Now to answer a couple of points..

Kronos- To answer you about the 06 tundra..When I bought the truck I had sold my truck and work car faster than I expected. I had to find something fast so I was at a disadvantage. I narrowed it down to the titan and tundra. I was tired of getting hosed on the resale of the big 3 and wanted to try something different. The trucks were both nice and I actually liked the titan more but the 0% swayed me to the tundra. I'm rambling but the point is the tundras interior is ancient looking and to me its butt ugly on the outside. I tried to fix it up with wheels, grills and other mods hoping it would grow on me but it isn't. Mechanically and driveability there are some quirks but no major gripes. Like I said I always pay my vehicles off and I cant see myself in this thing for 5 years being happy.

BKW and Blkbelt- Before the tundra I had a 01 sierra that I drove 5 yrs, 100k miles COMPLETELY trouble free. Now, strictly comparing the new design to that truck IS impressive to me..Thats why I had the IMO disclaimer. Without going in to detail, the interior and bells and whistles are miles ahead of what I had (and also the 06 tundra) and I think it looks nicer....or at least "fresh"

I'm not looking for a pissing match or crying about a truck I dont even own, that dont make much sense..I just bought up some very valid issues with the titan that are often discussed here. Thanks for the tip, I will read the review you suggested. We'll see what happens tomorrow if I buy..hopefully I'll be back talking about mods, not rear ends and brakes

Re: Help me get OUT of this Tundra!

I got my Titan in July and have been to the dealer 5 times.

1. A/C drain was clogged and had to have the clear it out. Fixed Easily
2. While fixing the A/C dealer scratched the bumper had to return for fix
3. Rear Window leak - said it was the power window resealed
4. Rear Window leak - said it was the 3rd brake light resealed
5. After letter to Nissan saying LEMON they fixed it was just a bad seal around the rear window.

Only other problem is I have a buzz in the right front speaker but does not present itself enough for the dealer to look at it. Probably just a lose wire but don't want to tear the dash apart and cause more troubles.

No more problems as of yet and have almost 10k on the truck. Love it all around.

Re: Help me get OUT of this Tundra!

06 CC 4x4 BT LE, I love this truck no problems at all...best of the trucks I've owned...You wont go wrong with it. Remember the BIG 3 have had years to iron out their problems, Titan 3 1/2, expect them to get resolved, the BIG 3 well maybe in another 20years??...don't sweat the small stuff, do yourself a favor and drive home a Titan...but be realistic...Toy's are good trucks. At the end of the day it is a truck, The Titan just happens to be a great truck! good luck.

Re: Help me get OUT of this Tundra!

I had a real issue going to the Titan from my F-150. The main reason for the switch was needing more room. And lets face it you simply won't find a more roomy 1/2 ton as the Titan King Cab!! 2nd this truck looks like no other, and in a good way!! I will admit I looked hard for 6 moths to pick this thing apart and sure its got it's short falls in a few area but heck they all do. With 13,000 miles on it now in 6 months I'm really starting to enjoy the truck and have faith in it as I did my F-150. I can honestly say I really love this truck now!!!
I looked at the new GMC last weekend at a boat show and I really don't see what all the talk is about. I was pretty disappointed and once again thought what the heck were they thinking??? But each to his own..

Re: Help me get OUT of this Tundra!

I have an 06 CC and have put 38000 miles on it for work in about 9 months. It is the best truck I have ever owned, Hands down!!! I look forward to going to work in it every day because it is such a pleasure to drive. I have the 4x4 and get about 16mpg on mainly highway driving. Go for the Titan. I don't think you will regret it. Oh yeah, not a week goes buy that someone doesn't compliment me on how nice the truck looks. Never got that with my chevy.

Re: Help me get OUT of this Tundra!

It doesn't matter which of the 8 "full size" 1/2 ton trucks you choose to buy...you'll always have a chance of buying one that has to spend time at the service shop, but then again maybe not. I've had a few minor issues with mine but there are three other Titans where I work and they have had no issues at all. You just never know. For me, price vs feature was the deciding factor. When it comes time to choose a new truck again I'll do the same... choose the truck that is the best bang for the buck.

The 8 I could think of.
Avalanche/Cadillac
Silverado/GMC
F150/Lincoln
Dodge
Sterling
Titan
Tundra
Pilot <<edit Ridgeline...my dumbarse

Okay, I'll bite - what is a sterling? While I'm at it, the only Pilot I have seen is a Honda and it sure does not look like a full size truck.

Sorry, not Pilot...Ridgeline... Tough to keep them all straight.

The Sterling is basically a Dodge heavy.
