Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

Hey guys, just a question about the SSV option. Even when I have it set to High, I notice absolutely no difference in volume variation. I was reading some threads on this and one had multiple opinions saying that the SSV option was very aggressive in the Titan?? (2004 model) Did they change something in the 07 stock Stereo or is mine the only 07 that does not work? I have asked multiple passengers to tell me if they notice anything when I have it on and no one can notice any volume variation either. Thanks so much for any advice/opinions!!!!!

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

You can notice it easily in my 05, because of that, I turned it off.

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

My 04 is really noticable. They probably changed it to actually do what it was made to do...and that's to adjust the volume just enough to overcome road noise the faster you go. You really shouldn't notice the difference.

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

I actually like it, I have an 05 and I have it set on high, I would say from 30-60mph it only turns up the sound 1-2 notches. not real noticeable but I think its just right for the road noise.

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

I have speed sensitive volume in my truck. After 55...it goes up....when I exit the freeway...it goes back down. Weird.

Actually, it goes up in increments starting at about 30 MPH. Sounds like yours works well if you can't really tell. My wifes 05 Quest has it and it works well.

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

Even though they CALL it speed sensitive volume ... (maybe I should look this up in the manual before commenting) ... I can't help but wonder whether it's attributable to cab noise from the road. Almost feels like when I'm mashing on the peddle even on the street, that the volume goes UP... and when I'm cruising, it goes down.

There's a microphone in the dash that picks up noise levels and that sends the siganal to raise or lower the volume.

It's speed sensitive. It doesn't listen or hear anything in the cab. It's strictly changed by vehicle speed.

It says that it adjusts to speed, but I agree with you.

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

Is that what that little cut that looks like a sensor on the bottom of the center console is?

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

SSV is one of those many gizmos added to automobiles after the additions of computers. They have all these inputs going into the compter(s), everything from ambient exterior air temperature to cylinder head temperature to recline angle of the front seats (ok maybe not that one). All these inputs can be read easily by other components, and since most components are digital now, can easily take these inputs and adjust functions like radio volume. I turned off my SSV after a while finding it to be annoying.

On my 2 Maximas, the owners manual stated that was where the temp sensor for the auto air was located. That may hold true for the Titan as well.

Re: Speed Sensitive Volume in '07'

I have mine set to high and like the way it adjusts . I drive with the windows down and the wind noise causes a problem without this feature on.
