Cold air intake question

I'm thinking about adding a cold air intake to my 04'. The only concerne that I have is the sound level. I had one on a honda accord a few years back and it was really loud. I like the sound but I do not want it to be obnoxious. My dad installed one on his Dodge and he hated it. Let me know what you guys think and your experiance.

Re: Cold air intake question

That's a very subjetive question...

It's purely based on opinion. I have the Volant intake and Banks exhaust...probably the loudest bolt-on combination you can get, and I LOVE IT!!

Just get the intake, and if you don't like it you can sell it to someone on the boards.

i see better mileage with my intake, tbs, and exhaust combo...when I'm normal on the throttle...but when I drive my truck hard, then it suffers slightly..LOL...

Re: Cold air intake question

This is the air intake I have and I like the sound it sounds great only on heavy throttle so most of the time I don't even know its there but it sure makes noise when you get out and pass . Sorry it is not a cleaner pic and the oil coming out of MAF sensor is from when my truck was upside down for 3 hrs ( pics posted in other thread ) . Also if you notice it is a NISMO part so it won't void warrenty ( that is what my dealer told me anyway ) ! And I have not noticed HP gains or losses nor have I noticed anything different MPG wise .

Re: Cold air intake question

Intakes are a little loud, but after a couple of days you dont even notice the noise. I highly suggest buying one.

Cool Re: Cold air intake question

My Fram Boost is not loud unless my foot is in it.
That is the problem...I love the mellow tone, my foot likes it too.

Re: Cold air intake question

I have the Volant intake. On normal driving I barely notice that its on there. But when towing or on any long hills where my RPM runs around 2600+ or so I find the drone to be rather annoying. I am debating putting the stock intake back on for the spring/summer camping season just so I don't have to get a headache everytime I want to go camping.

Re: Cold air intake question

Iv'e had my AFE on for a week. I love it. It sounds the same as stock when driving around town or cruising on the highway. When I hit passing gear or take off hard from a stop, it is very loud. I haven't taken any road trips or towed anything since I put it on.
