OEM battery

How long should the stock factory battery last?

Re: OEM battery

2-3 years depending on weather and how often you drive the truck. There are threads upon threads upon threads on this on the site. If you are looking for a replacement, a search will yield a lot of threads. They more or less reccomend the same batteries, usually the Optima and Duralast are mentioned in there. Don't know which ones exactly. All I can say is, if you have the heavy duty batter, be prepared to pay an arm and a leg.

Re: OEM battery

When I traded in my 04, I had it almost 4 years and the original battery was fine. I might add though that I had the tow package that came with the higher output battery.

Re: OEM battery

If you deep discharge the OEM battery to the point where it won't start the truck and you need to charge or jump to start, it is pretty much toast. Odyssey PC1700MJT will withstand deep discharge.

Re: OEM battery

I am just hitting the two year mark with mine. No problems yet but I will be replacing the OE battery anyway. With everything I have read I am just not going to take the chance with the northeast winters and all. I haven't picked a replacement yet so I curious to see if there is any new opinion out there on who to go with.

Re: OEM battery

A plain ole Sears DieHard replacement will do just fine. I don't understand the need for these fancy deep cycle red or yellow top batteries for anyone who doesn't have some sort of aftermarket high power stereo systems or something else that eats juice.

Using my power as lord of the bagels I jinx you. Your battery will be dead tomorrow and your gas tank full of tasty doughnuts.

Yes I know that was childish and stupid.

The Everlast WalMart battery I put in my 83 F100 7 years ago still works. It might not make it through the winter but I'd say I got my money's worth.
I don't believe in super fancy and expensive batteries, either. For that matter, I don't use synthetic oil, either.

Re: OEM battery

my 04 battery lasted till the summer of this year. My only problem was where it died. At, the drive in movie theater, with 5 minutes left in the movie we were watching.

We were all sitting in the bed of truck, enjoying (along with the cars next to us) the deep bass and sounds coming out of the Titan, when it died. Worst part was, when the guy next to me helped me jump it, I found I as I was hooking up my battery that I was standing in a pile of fire ants. In flip flops. There are scars of bites on my feet 4 months later
