2004 Auto Rear Sliding window

Ive read some posts about people suggesting the -
Perfect Fit” POWR-Truck Slider

Sold by a few places.

Just curious if someone has actually installed it. I would love to have a powered rear sliding window but I have no idea if this one even works week with 2004, CC etc... I was hoping someone has some knowledge. I did a search and all I found was the suggestion no one actually doing it.

Thanks.

cuz its a pain. If you had a button to push I bet you would do it more often?

Here in AZ its kinda nice to open all the windows if it starts to get warm to help cool the truck off before cooling it down.

I agree, I never open mine only because its a pain, I wish I had the push button open to quickly clear the 180 degree air.

Check out the link in my signature. There is a video. The first time you watch it it may be choppy. After it has completely loaded it is very smooth.

Now thats what im talking bout!!

I just am hopeful a complete moron like myself can set it up :-) Can you send me a link of a few pictures of how you mounted it? There was a picture of a bent piece to mount on the window or something that isnt there anymore in your post? I see the PDF though so maybe thats just as good. BTW very nice instructions with CAD.

I love the mount area you made for the switch since that comes off very easy (Found that out when I was installing my brake controller) thats a perfect place too.

Did you have to have someone custom make you the "hook" peice that had to be bent? Or did you just find stuff that fit the specs at True Value or Home Depot?

This sounds like a great next project for me since summer is just around the corner and I would love this for my 04

Thanks for any help you can lend me!!!

**One last question for now** Did you have to do anything to weatherproof the setup? Seal anything up more since it could get rain etc on it? Just curious.

Re: 2004 Auto Rear Sliding window

the question i have is whether or not i can retrofit the 2005 power sliding rear window into my 04 cc... it seems like an easy enough swap, just a matter of spending the bucks or finding a wreck with one... any thoughts?

Most everyone was suggesting to do the kit for it -
Perfect Fit” POWR-Truck Slider

But ive not seen anyone do it. You may be able to find it easily (since the trucks are still pretty new) in a auto yard.

IF you do happen to do it this way. Let us know how it worked for you. That would be pretty nice to have the larger rear window in our 04 with it being power :-) Both choices sound like they are winners.

Re: 2004 Auto Rear Sliding window

Nah. The rear window, unless you need to carry long lumber etc, should be a solid piece of glass. Opening it while driving icks in dust and crap from the bed. Now the NEWER, LARGER one that opens down from the top can be opened an inch or so would be better IMHO. Otherwise, mine has always stayed closed. If I want air-flow, I have 4 other windows that don't drag in dirt from the bed.

The install wasn't too bad. I wanted to hide the motor below the seat. I actually installed it the way that I did to test it out and it worked so well that I left it. I like the fact that the motor it is not physically connected to the window. I believe that if it binds up it will slip off and not damage anything.

The hook is just something that I found at True Value. I believe that it is made for a mailbox post but I can't remember for sure. I cut the bends down so that they were just shorter than the thickness of the window so that it would not scratch the stationary window. I attached them to a length of flat bar, also from True Value, the same distance apart as the window width. I then mounted this to the motor in such a way that it was "spring loaded" to put pressure against the window. The motor is just wire tied to the seat belt assembly. I used a flat piece of rubber laid on top to keep the motor from sliding. I like the fact that I can take it off and never know it was there, if I needed to.

I didn't do anything to weatherproof. You just need to make sure that it is adjusted so that it pushes tight when it is closed. I will try to get some better pictures once it is sunny out. Right now it is glooming. I'm not sure that I can get good pictures of the mount. Basically I just kept putting it on and taking it off until I got it like I wanted it.

I used a wire tie to hold the latch open. The window can't be opened because of the motor.

If you have any question let me know. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

Could you be so kind as to show pictures of the latch and say the add a circuit type fuse thing you used? If thats too much to get to I understand. I was just hoping to make it easier on myself but this still sounds like the way for me to do it :-).

Thanks!

Re: 2004 Auto Rear Sliding window

Here is a link to the add-a-circuit. I got mine at Autozone.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=071-580

I tried to get some picture but they turned out real blurry. I couldn't even make out what it was. I will try again later, it's getting dark.

Re: 2004 Auto Rear Sliding window

Here are a few pictures. They did not turn out very well but I think that you can get the idea. I made some notes on the pictures also. There are two add-a-circuits because power to the motor with the key off so that it would close automatically. The other powers the relays. They need to go off when the key is turned off. If you do not want it to auto close you only need one.

Great!! I think i will be ordering the part online soon and hopefully will be able to get your setup to work perfectly. Just gotta find that mailbox "mount" you found. If not Im sure I could get a friend help me make it since he fabs stuff for rhinos.

Thanks again for all your help this looks like a great project. And the pictures look decent enough to give me the idea.

The fuses you tied into - what was the reason on that? Just curious.

Thanks!

The one for the switched power I chose because it was label c/lighter. I'm not sure what it actually goes to but I am sure that I don't have a cig. lighter. I just chose the other one because it was powered all the time. However, with the add-a-circuit the window motor and the relays have their own fuse. You should not have to worry about a problem in these circuits blowing a fuse for something else.

I'm glad that someone else is going to try this. Good luck!
