Re: oil oil oil

20 weight is a little thin, unless you are in the really cold climate areas. I would stick to 5W30 if possible. The 20 weight could lead to noises, ticking valves, etc. in the engine. Wal-Mart sells 5W30 5 quart containers for $23.94. Mobil 1 synthetics use a proprietary base oil mixture of ester, poly aplha olefin, and alkylated naphthalene to give long life and clean oil. all of the other synthetics are ester and alkyl benzene. Royal Purple and Amsoil have good synthetic oils, but they aren't quite as good as Mobil 1 in the testing we have doen in our lab. We make industrial lubricants and have used Mobil's base oil combination in some applications with very good results.

Re: oil oil oil

When it gets hotter outside, Nissan recommends a *-40 oil. Something a little thicker then the standard 30 weight.

Re: oil oil oil

I agree with the other posts. If you can't return it, I would either mix it half/half with Mobile 5-40 (if they make it) or use 1 quart of the 5-20 and 6 quarts of the Mobile 1 5-30 at each change.

Re: oil oil oil

I've heard that mixing brands is ok, but NEVER to mix weights.
Just a rumor though.

No they don't actually. 10W40 is ok to use and is shown in the owners manual as acceptable in warmer months but Nissan recommend 5W30 for all conditions. I've used, and others here have as well, 0W40 with good results.....it's just hard to find and Walmart sells 5QT containers of Mobil1 5W30 for just over $22 so...that's what I use. 20 weight has got to result in engine chatter of some type.
