Talking Titan 2 Jeep 0

well i've recently fallen victim to the offroad/mud slingin addiction and tonight one of my friends and I decided to take our rigs mud slingin. he has an 02 jeep sahara (stock). well we go to the local mud spot and everything is going fine for awhile until he decided to venture ahead down a trail we havent been down before and its not long before he gets stuck as ****. when i drove up on his jeep it was buried up to the doors in thick gooey mud (the kind with red clay mixed in). the front of my truck was facing the back of his jeep and ive read enough horror stories on the forum about pulling in reverse so i pulled a 3 point turn and backed up to his jeep (now i was in the worst of the mud like his jeep). we got the tow strap hooked up and i threw the tian in 4LO and locked the rear diff and let her rip. took a few seconds at first but eventually i got traction and i pulled him out of that nasty mud pit. later on he got stuck again and i pulled him out the same way except didnt even put it in 4LO and he came right out.

in short, the titan has NEVER let me down as of yet and it pulled that jeep out like one hell of an angry beast. afterwards he was asking me all kinds of questions about the truck and said how impressed he was with the trucks performance off road. thanks nissan

Re: Titan 2 Jeep 0

Good deal. Smart on the turning around thing. It may have been better to get in front if it was possible to have him help push himself out too :-)

Its nice to turn heads and have people go wow, didnt know your truck could do that :-)

thats cool... although for what the jeep is, it's really one of the best offroad vehicles out there... imo

Re: Titan 2 Jeep 0

Good for you and the Titan. The Titan has some pulling grunt for sure. Although, I still think the Jeep is a better trail vehicle [shorter wheel base, etc.] In fact I have just about decided to keep my 04 Titan instead of trading it in and getting a jeep for myself in a couple of years.

Re: Titan 2 Jeep 0

Keep the Titan and buy a used TJ, they are cheap. You will need the Titan to tow it after you get the modification bug. You are kind of close to Tellico in Murphy NC. FUN place, but don't take the Titan. I would hate to do that to such a nice truck

Sorry bout the highjack :-)

Excellent. I would have left it in 4LO and the rear locked the whole time I was muddin'.

Ya exactly what I was planning to do. Tellico is just a short drive [45 min] from my house. And yes it does have some pretty interesting jeep trails, lol. I would NEVER consider driving the Titan on. Maybe we'll meet up there sometime!!

its funny how little the general public knows about the titan... the other day someone was mudding on the power lines down my road, one was a land rover, and an older pathfinder or 4 runner (couldnt tell from the mud) pulled him out, but then got stuck trying to cross the ditch, they were in the process of getting out of the vehicle when the land rover again got stuck, so they called a vehicle recovery service, and down the road comes what else but a 1500 with the HEMI... he got stuck, but had winches so he was out in a few... i asked the driver of the pathfinder/4-runner how much the guy was charging, he said 250 per vehicle... ouch.... i told them id pull the one out of the ditch for 50 bucks, they had plenty of strap to let me get on pavement.... easy... the werent even stuck bad, just had 2 wheels off the ground slightly and the other 2 in mud then up the side of the ditch... then the one guy says "what are you going to pull it out with, That?" i laughed inside.... and thought wow, they deserve the 250 charge... by the time i got over there the owner of the stuck vehicle gave the dodge guy the ok to pull him and was hooking up... i just laughed as i left 2 50 ft black strips at the stop sign near-by.... i did notice too that the dodge was really hot, there seemed to be at least 2 fans running that i could hear and you could just see the heat radiating from the engine bay, kinda like when you look at a hot road in the summer and a grill, i mean the heat was coming from his fender wells and the hood, i know slow driving will do that but just seemed hot to me... sorry for the hi-jack just thought i would share....

Re: Titan 2 Jeep 0

sorry guys...no pics but next time i will take some videos if i can

yeah, dodge blows IMO...the ram 1500 trans overheated in the towing test in motor trend one year

i am a little reluctant to go back to the spot i went to last time since it is "illegal" if you were to get caught although a cop car couldn't make it anywhere near there so not sure how that would work

the guy in the jeep that i pulled out twice said the same thing..something like "had to get pulled out by a japanese truck..embarrasing" i just laughed..this "japanese" truck can hang with the best america has to offer in the 1/2 ton dept.

And I always laugh and quickly correct anyone that says its a jap truck.. Nope built in Mississippi by Americans... the Tranny isnt. People always say is that true.. and I send them to a link here and say yep.

They then say it was engineered by Japs.. im like so was your damn Computer cell phone and tv so STFU!! lol.

his jeep was 4x4 but he just has crappy tires on it..they are worn down all terrains

but i agree...if mine was 4x2 i would go for the street truck look

Ha ha, yeah we did all the trails but School Bus, we ran out of time. I am planning on a trip to a place in KY (I think) this year. We may stop at some place in WV on the way home.

Have fun,

Jay
