Looking for Titan in SW FL

My 65 yr old dad is looking for a New(er) CC Titan in SW FL. It is one of his top three choices. Any good dealers in the area? He will be using it to tow a 3500 pound boat 1000 miles several times a year and sometimes will also have his 650 cc m/c cruiser in the bed. One thing he is concerned about is the Titan bed being too short in the bed. I heard there is a 6.5' bed in the crew cab now- this correct? What about 2wd with the limited slip. Is its worthwhile? He is worried about boat ramps. If its not worthwhile he may opt for 4x4.

he is also looking at the F150 (b/c of the great rebates and 6.5 bed) and the Dodge 2500 diesel quad cab b/c rebates are so amazing it is the same rpice or lower than the Titan or F150 but it is a Dodge and don;t have the best reputation outside the engine/tranny.

I am 1200 miles away so I can't go with him to go truck buying/searching...

Would value your thoughts on these buying options.

Why not talk him onto the weaker and cheaper F-150! He's only towing 3500 LBS! Sorry man....lol...couldn't resist!

For boating?....shhhesh, I'd have to suggest 4WD. Those ramps can get slippery as heII and our ABLS (LSD rear) works, but not as good as a true LSD. It works by braking the slipping wheel using the ABS sensors. For 2008, yes....there's a longbed crew cab available, but their not out just yet. Powerwise and trannywise, he'll be hard pressed to beat the Titan in the 1/2 ton catagory. He should also look at GMs new pickups. Don't leave any stones unturned.

Re: Looking for Titan in SW FL

Thanks for the info. Didn't know the Titan LSD was so poor. That may be out if there is no 6.5 bed and no real lsd. That's too bad. Unless he can wait til '08. He is not a fast driver so the Titan's extra power is not needed. He'll never hit the 8 sec 0-60 the F150 will give him.

Those F1t50 incentives right now are very attractive, same with the Dodge diesels. Chevys seem to have priced theirs closer to the Tundra.
