I woke up today to a bunch of snow. I had trouble getting the Titan out of the driveway. All the gauges indicated that it was in 4WD. Howevwer, just the rear wheels were spinning. I finally worked it out of the snow. I played around with diff lock 4low, 4 high and nothing seems to be working. Also, I tred to put it in 4 high while driving down the road and I hear this clicking noise from underneath the truck. Any Ideas what the heck is going on?
Not sure but mine did the opposite. I had it in 4hi leaving my house and switched back to 2wd while going down the road and the dash light showed it was in 2wd but it was still in 4hi. I had to pull over, shut the truck off and restart, then it came out of 4hi???
I do find that the truck has to be moving a little to go into or come out of 4WD. So maybe you just switched it into 4WD and expected it to be in 4WD immediately? I don't know. If not, I'd have it checked out. Although our system seems to be quite tough, the electronic part of it always seemed to scare me. There's something to be said for 4WD truck (like my 02 FRONTIER SC) that have a shifter for 4WD actuation. Granted the switch is easier and can be done better on the fly.

The clicking is actually it switching into or out of 4wd. You might find that if you have 1 front wheel and 1 rear wheel slipping you wont move unless in 4wd lo. Also to get into 4wd lo you have to be moving!

i like to stay warm.
good luck with the 4wd.
The snow is gone here already - but I got stuck in the mud today on stock tires. Don't ask me how I got on the lawn, but after raining non stop for several days and all the snow melting my tires got 6-7inches into the slippery mud - took me about 15 minutes to get out, but I did it myself.

Oh no, I love the snow. But it's March and I'm ready for summer now!

I have very limited knowledge of this stuff. When i first got my titan i was showing off with a friend on some ice in January.
There was a spot on my two lane concrete circle drive covered in very slippery half melted ice. so, i started the truck and put it in neutral...then I switched to 4lo...didn't move an inch...then I put it in drive and mashed the gas a bit... all four wheels slipped like they should have wiht that much torque, so I let off the gas and got traction and moved forward. drove down the snowy street in 4 lo for about a block, stopped at stop sign, neutral back to 2 wheel mode. took off, no problem whatsoever.
It may take some movement to get it into 4 WD, but I haven't seen it.
