GAS low warning.... how far did u go?

ive been trying to figure out how low i can get my truck to go w the low fuel warning light......(playing w fire i know)
but dang it, just about everytime i fill 'er up, i still could of gone with about at least another 4 gallons of fuel!
i know its suppose to be a 26 gallon tank. i guess its good that the light kinda makes u get gas before u run out (its purpose)....
just wondering what others have been able to get away with.

Da....

I think I mentioned it to ya before. in July 1993 we went to St. Pete and Moscow for about a week, and London. At that time it was a LA to London, to St. Pete (via Helsinki)... then one of those infamous train trips from St. Pete to Moscow, and back....

Re: GAS low warning.... how far did u go?

I have gone 75 miles after the light went on and then was only able to put in 25.5 gallons. By that count I should have been able to go another 30 miles before she was dry.

But still risky. I had a Ford Explorer Sport Trac, that didn't make it to the gas station.

Re: GAS low warning.... how far did u go?

It had been reported in other threads that the light doesn't come on the same time for everyone. Mine comes on with 1/8th tank left. I don't dare drive much after that

Re: GAS low warning.... how far did u go?

titan has a 28 gallon tank, have put in 24.5 gallons when light comes on... which means that @ 15mpg, you should in a perfect world be able to get 52.5 miles, but that is if you can use the last little bit, which i doubt, so knock off a gallon and you get 37.5 miles, to be on the safe side....

Re: GAS low warning.... how far did u go?

I drove for a couple days after my light came on a few weeks ago. It took 27.3 gallons. That's the most, by far, I've ever put in my truck.
