What is it with Nissan and their gas gauges? Got gas last night gauge was still indicating empty after the fill up. My G had the same problem had to bring it to the dealer twice before it got fixed. This morning it worked just fine this is freakin' rediculous you would think an 07 would have the bugs worked out by now. I have to see if it happens again if it does then it's dealer time.

I have had my sending unit replaced twice and its still messed up. They ordered me in a whole new tank. Goes in next week to give that a shot.
It is ridiculous how it can go form just over 1/4 tank to bottom line empty with the light on in 5 minutes.
Time to get up on my soapbox here, sorry in advance for the thread hi-jack...A reasonable person might expect that when your vehicle has a problem and you take it to the shop to get fixed, that just maybe, the "technician" would actually troubleshoot the problem to find the cause, and the actually fix it. It has been my experience with the "Service Department" that when you submit a service item, instead of troubleshooting, they have this pre-planned parts replacement routine, wherein regardless of whether the part that they are replacing is bad or not, it must be replaced before thay can proceed in "diagnosing" the fault. I know that they call this troubleshooting, but from my own personal experience that is not what troubleshooting really is. For instance, your fuel guage problem, if you were going to fix it yourself, would you just automatically go out and buy a new sending unit? Say you did, and that didn't fix it, would you buy a whole new tank next? How about replacing the whole instrument cluster? How about after all the parts are replaced, it turns out to be a wire in the harness that the insulation got rubbed off of, and it would make contact with the frame occasionally, causing erratic guage readings. If the technicians were actually trained on how to troubleshoot a fault and not follow some flowchart for parts replacement, I bet the service departments would have alot less repeat calls as well as having more happier customers. I for one would rather pay a little more for labor knowing that the tech was actually solving the problem and I wouldn't be coming back in a week for the same issue, than to be plagued with the same problem over and over.
sorry for the long discourse...poor service work gets me all fired up...

well i havent had quite the problems as ya'll , i have had a little gauge problem, every once in a while i'll have a little over a quarter tank and it'll read empty, but it always goes back to normal after a while
I had the same problem. it would read full fine. but 14 gallons later it would read empty. nissan changed the sending unit and it worked fine for a while but then it slowly looses its capacity. going to have to go in soon for a new sending unit.
My gas gauge doesn't quite touch the full mark when full anymore. The gauge seems to drop faster from full to 3/4 than it should for the mileage driven. On a long trip where I had let the gauge get well below the 1/4 mark it took 20 minutes after the fill-up for the gauge to slowly work it's way up to almost full. Haven't had that problem since but haven't let it get that low again. Will talk to the service manager next service.
Ok, ran out of gas today and the gauge showed quarter tank still left. Wife had the same thing happen to her a few months ago. Anyone know of any TSB's for this?
OK... from my experience when I had my 04, same issue was coming up that you are having. Took it to the dealer and what happened is that the little floater in the tank that indicates how much fuel you have was getting stuck. It had to do with colder weather and it just not moving how it is supposed to. they replaced the floater (don't know what it is actually called) and it was working just fine. Parts Mngr said it happened to many 04 and 05'. Looks like it is still a problem.
Maybe it just needs a few more fill ups to work itself in???
Well it’s definitely not due to cold weather in my case, it’s been 70 all week. I’m going to take it in, I don’t want to be left stranded on the freeway again. Good thing for Triple A(AAA)

How about looking up the TSB and finding out that Nissan has a problem with their fuel sending units?
it'd be interesting to know if a scangauge would read the same as your fuel gauge on these trucks... make it pretty easy to find the problem.
mine's messed up too... filled it up, got it home and it read 3/4 tank. I figured someone stole some of my gas and was just going to stop and get a locking cap when it just miraculously went to full again.
same here .. happened to me once or twice .. bought me a locking gascap just in case though...

I had an issue for a while if i filled it totally it would show that it was 3/4 full, then after going down the road for a bit the needle would then show a full tank. I had an issue with fuel gauges before but it was a result of high sulfur content in gasoline that came from a supplier based out of Tennessee, and Shell Oil/Texaco got sued because of it, and had to fix what it was doing to fuel gauges giving a false reading. Could this be a possible defect in their fuel gauges?

I'll throw my .02 in here just for more data. My gas gauge will sometimes show half tank, but after about 10 mins of driving it goes back up to 3/4 tank. After a long sit (overnight), it does this. It's usually about a 1/4 tank off but goes back to normal after a short time.
