Glad I got the 4x4

the rain started late last night here in Kansas, and was followed by the usual march thunderstorm.

Here in Wichita, the roads are so horrible in the some parts of town where I guess they were constructed before the advent of ditch and watershed technology...so I found my Titan's 4x4 very handy.

I was following a jeep down my normal route, at my normal time which is always crammed with traffic...except today. I guess I didn't know what everyone else does...this road is impassible when wet! Even though it's four lanes and is the main artery to the west side of town. The jeep got as deep as the top of his stock tires and waded through a Stream (not kidding, it was like a small river) of flowing water. He was kicking up rooster tails in the "smaller" pools of water, so I thought "hey, i've got 4x4!" and i kicked it in...just in case I lost traction. Once I got past the whitecaps and the breakers, it was just fine.

I docked my Titan at work and tied her off for the day...it looks like there'll be more of this on the way out tonight.

Re: Glad I got the 4x4

Ya, i hear my fellow office workers talking about how deep it was. Most of them turned around...but they drive cars.

They're saying that the storm drains are clogged and that's why it was so bad. I was just amazed at the depth of the water in this city...Population 350,000.

Is this how Titan drivers test their trucks? Wonder if my 4x4 will get me through that puddle?

Re: Glad I got the 4x4

wasn't much other option I'm afraid... had to get to work....besides, if a jeep can do it...

Did I pose any risk to my intake? I've read that they take on water in the intake quickly, I kept moving at a solid pace and it looked like the water displaced in an outward direction.

How do you get water in them?
