I have owned the JDM hid kit for the past 2 years/24000 miles. I am happy with the product, but I have a concern and wonder if others could share their experience.
My concern is that I am on my 4th hid bulb replacement. It seems the bulbs(6000k JDM HID) only last about 6months or so before they burn out.
I assume this is normal, because I have talked with others who have aftermarket kits and some say the same thing.
So the feedback I am looking for is how long do your HID setups last?
what brand do you use?
maybe if one brand lasts longer than another, I can just buy different bulbs...
I have Alpha Style with Phillips 5800K bulbs.
Warranty on Alpha Style is 18 months. On the phillips bulb I have 5 year warranty with (4hours a day usage) 304days, 7300 hours.

I got my low beam HIDs in Feb 06 and my fogs in June 06. Both sets are JDM 6000Ks. I have not had to replace a bulb yet. I have my fogs on at all times that I am driving. I'm not sure why yours are burning out so often. These are supposed to be long term bulbs.

what does everyone think?
I can't rememeber which ones I have but I can tell you this....HID bulbs, unless physically broken, don't "burn out". What happens is they gradually get dimmer. The ones on the wifes 05 Quest have been changed for just that reason but it took well over a year ...maybe a year and a half. But better replacement bulbs.

i have own two sets of hids for my headlight and foglights... used them for more than 3 years and have not yet burned... it's only 200 a set... so i guess my stuff is GOOD!! haha
Try to run a set of relays to your HIDs and see if it helps. I have always had a custom wire harness made with relays for all my vehicles and have never had any issues when using relays. The kits that I've used without relays always burned on me. Either ballast went or the bulbs.
Goodluck on your HIDs though. I can't stand to drive a vehicle without HIDs.

Thats true. I have done relays and the power for ballasts goes streight from the battery. Otherwise it blew 140amp fuse when I turned my enginge one with lights in auto!
