just a couple n00b questions

I went searching and couldn't find the answers, so...
1. where is the Titan made/assembled?
2. does the 5.6 have a timing belt or chain? if belt, what the change interval?

thanks so much, I've been reading a lot here the last few days, and really appreciate all the info!

The Titan is is made in Canton, MS 39046. The engine has a timing chain, which if you keep your oil changed regularly you will probably never have to ever touch it. The engine is made in Dechard, TN. The trans. is made by JATCO I think in Japan, not sure. The frame is made by Tower Industries, down the road from the plant. The axels are made by Dana. The brakes are made by Bosch. The exhaust is made by Calsonic in several different areas in MS, TN, and other areas.

Re: just a couple n00b questions

COOL! you guys rock!
the Titan is more American than a Silverado! I'm glad about the chain, too. the only Nissan engines I was familiar w/ was the 3.0 in the hardbody and the maxima, used to be a 60K interval on the belt. so, thanks, I'm liking the Titan more and more!

Re: just a couple n00b questions

if it's a chain, you'll never need to change it.
Chains don't wear like belts do.

I had a chain wear to the point of becoming loose on a Toyota 22R engine. It jumped a tooth. I was lucky and it didn't cause any major damage. I had to have the chain and the gears replaced. So no, they don't wear like belts, but they do wear.

You almost have to pour sand in the crankcase of a 22R to kill it! One of the things that Toyota did right.

Yup. What I didn't mention was how many miles I had on that engine before the chain skipped a beat. Over 250k.

Re: just a couple n00b questions

in that case, I withdraw my statement about timing chains lasting forever...
Timing chains last longer than MOST engines.

This is the first time anyone has told me they have changed a timing chain due to a failure.
