All right, first off i just want to say that i have been a life long Ford guy (let the flaming begin)
Anyways i have always owned Fords, and they have always ben great to me, say what you want but i had very few problems with any of them.
But i sold my 97 F-150 last weekend and am in the market for a new truck.
Well about 5 months ago my wife and i were in the market for a new SUV. Nothing Ford has in the SUV line, has ever really impressed me. My wife always liked Murano's, so we went and drove a couple...........3 hours later we owned a silver 03 SL AWD fully loaded murano with 28k miles on it.
I have been so impressed with the Murano that, now that my truck is sold, i am thinking about an 04 CC Titan. I have always loved the looks of the Titan and the 5.6 is a hot rod motor!
Few Questions for you guys.........
i drive roughly 550 miles/week for my work, i do home remodeling, roofing, build garages, etc.
Anyways I estimate it to be 90% highway and 10% city driving.
Would i be far off to estimate 15-16 mpg average?
and prob 8.5 to 9mpg towing my 7500lb work trailer?
I used to get 6mpg with the F-150 pulling the trailer and 13 hwy unloaded.
I love the Titan for its great looks, the BT package with trans temp gauge and tow mirrors!
This site is awesome and i have already learned alot from it.
Thanks guys!!!!!

15 to 16 mpg and 90% hwy is about right.Pulling 3k pounds I get 11mpg.Most of your towing milage will depend on speed traveled and hills.
I average 15-18 highway with my Titan depending on speed and wind, but I've had my 05 Titan for two years with only one problem with the brakes that was fixed promptly.

not sure about the weight.... guessing somwhere between 9-11 thousand pounds for the bobcat with trailer but usualy ill get 7 in the city and about 12 on the highway....
but im 19 and i like to go fast so these numbers could probably be better.....
Be sure and test drive if you're looking at used. I bought used and so far only real problems are the rattles are becoming insane, I've had it in the shop a couple times already and they can't seem to fix rattles. My brother liked my truck so much he went and bought a used 04 titan c.c. and his rattles are becomming worse than mines, they're so bad he's thinking about bailing out on his titan and I can't say that I blame him cause if my rattles continue to get worse without the dealer being able to fix them I will dump truck also because I Freaking hate rattles in a truck especially one with only 35000 miles and my brothers truck has 46000. So like I said be sure and test drive and if there's any hint of a rattle run far and fast unless you don't mind rattles. Other than that it's a nice driving truck with plenty of power and my fuel mileage is about 16 mostly hiway...........
I have 06 CC BT 4x4 w/ 22k miles and have avg. 15 mpg for all my driving which is mostly highway rush hour. On trips were I have been able to set the cruise on 70-72 I have often avg. 18 mpg. I don't tow often so can't really speak to that.
While I don't think you need to run far and fast, if you are looking at an 04 you might want to make sure that the brakes have been fixed. But then again I don't think I would ever trade a truck because of "rattles" unless I thought it was mechanical or just really falling apart, I am the guy who will open the window or turn on the radio and say problem solved.

Well the titan should make you happy. Test drive a few to see how you like the differences in the packages.
I have a 4X4 04 LE with a few mods (listed in sig) and I towed a travel trailer to Glamis a few weeks ago I think I hit around 10-11mpg going 70-75mph. with around 6k being towed. Normally I get around 14-15 mpg Freeway if im not with the heavy foot and around 12-13 city thats with the heavy foot.
Good timing with the Nissan selling 100,000 car event or whatever that is. Hopefully they will get you a good deal :-)
Check with them if you are getting the 04 for the Brake fix, the Rear Tranny cover (better heat dissipation). The 05's have some sort of trailer wiring harness thing that if you tow make sure that is fixed before you leave. Then you have to weigh the options of BT, Elocker, Off Road package, 4X4 as you see it.
You can get better MPG with the 2wd version I hear even with towing.

Well .. testdrive it and decide id. I know you won't be able to get off the truck without taking it home - so bring some cash with you =)))
Get a 05 though - they have some major 04 problems fixed. There is also a chance that a 04 with miles on it would have everything fixed under warranty already.

All right guys, thanks for thoughts and opinions. Been on Ford sights and have never had this quick of reply to a post.
Well i went and test drove a used 06 after i put up the post last night. (it is too new for my wallet) but i just wanted to check one out closely and feel the power. And yo0u were all right......I love the truck........i HAVE to get one now!!!!!!!
I need 4x4 for sure, and i really want the BT for the work trailer and future travel trailer.
i have always bought higher mileage vehicles before for work because i put so many miles on it i hate to pay the money for a low mileage vehicle and then go rack up 25-35k miles a year and lose my butt on it depreciating!
Just so you know......one of my work vehicles, a 95 E-350 van with a 351 has 296K miles on it and runs like a champ, i bought it with 125k in 1997, and keep it well maintained.
I am ritualistic with 3500 miles full synthetic oil changes!
So another question.....
Would you guys have any problems with the thought of buying a 85-95K mile 04 or 05 Truck?
And what is the brake issue to check....is it a factory recall?
Thanks again, you guys are the most informative site i have ever com across!
It's the right thing to do. Trust us young Jedi...... We will not steer your wrong. Try to get the newest model you can afford as many of the updates adn fixes will be taken care of. Or just get a carfax report or run the VIN to see what's been done to the 04 before you buy it. You won't be disappointed! Good luck!
