How many actually put the front plate on. Any horror stories here? I havn't had a front plate for 6 years without a hitch. I just bought an 07 and had to sign a form in the finance office stating that the dealer provided me with a front plate holder or their CYA and now I'm paranoid.

Que mucho ticketo?
It's a "fix it" ticket. You'll just have to pay the processing fee once you get the cite signed off.

Re: Calling all Californians
You're just giving some cop that wants to mess with you a reason to pull you over. I suggest just putting the dang thing on there. What's the big deal? It does not make your truck look that much worse or better either way.
i have never ran a front plate on any of my trucks. The day I came home with the titan I took off the dealer plate in front. like 37L1 said its a fix it ticket and if you get pulled over for it just say "the last time I checked officer it was there, it must have fell off."

When he pulls you over and you say that, you'd better hope that's not the day you just had a couple of beers after work with the boys. My point is the less interaction I have with the police the better.

Well the truck as delivered, has enough dealer signage that you would think they invented the dang thing. I think the officer makes a judgement call when confronted with this "opportunity" and decides on the spot whether to pull you over or not. Appearance is everything and I have an honest face.......... so off it comes.
I don't put mine on. I got caught for speeding and they cited me for it and it was a fix it ticket. I zip tied the plate on....drove to the CHP office.....its free to get it signed off there....at the Sheriff's...they charge you $25, they signed the ticket off and when I got home, I cut the zip ties and put the plate back in the garage. I cheated the system!

I completely agree with not giving them any reason to pull you over. At all. But, having said that, I'm not rolling a front plate on any of my cars. When I had my 62 Beetle, I put a German plate on the front and never had to popo's stop me for it.
it's always been against the law but now they tend to enforce it more so they can get you in the intersections that get you with a camera. The front plate substantiates that it was your vehicle in the pic.

It's not always a fix it ticket. Some cities have their own city code section and I know of one that charges $78 for not displaying a plate. The cops usually won't pull you over for not having a front plate in Ca, unless they think you're up to something else. I put mine on, but have had many cars without it.

You don't even need to be pulled over sometimes. I saw a parking enforcement officer in Pasadena writing up parked cars and just putting the ticket under their wipers, like a parking violation.
They will write you up if you go through a sobriety checkpoint without the front plate on. But those are usually run by the CHP and you can get it written off for free @ a CHP station.
P.S. Take a look @ my sig. No plates...

I have been pulled over by CHP and local PD. They never paid any attention to the fact that I have no plate on any of my vehicles or tinted front windows.
