I checked our 04 Titan LE today to see the condition of our in-cabin air/dust filter. This item was indicated as being in the truck when we bought it as a good item to help reduce pollen/dust allergy symptoms. I came to find that the filter in our truck is missing all together .I have been told that the air filters were only installed in the SE,LE Crew Cab models??? What a rip!! I just ordered the filter set (2 filters) at Autoparts warehouse $27.30 shipped. I guess Nissan saved a bunch of money leaving out the filters that where supposed to come with SE and LE titan trucks. Ripped off!!
The filter location is behind the passenger glove box. You might want to check to see if yours is missing too. I suspect it is.. remove glove box hinge bolts for easy access w/o having to remove the dash cover.
I suspected mine was missing as well, but turns out it was in place ok, it just doesn't work all that well! Nissan needs to do some work on their filter design let alone remember to put the stupid things in!!!
I think the filter in mine works great. Right after hurricane rita the standing water got real stinky and with the windows rolled up you would hardly notice it. But if the windows were down I couldn't stand to drive there.
Huh, I was wondering about those filters myself after my 15k service$$$$. the dealership says they "changed" them, but you never get the old parts back....BTW the power window thing is a cool idea, but does the crew p/w fit the king? I am an installer for ....F*** accessories, so I have done many window swaps in 150's and super-d's and they are interchangeable between cab sizes... I know the price for the factory kit would be stupid high, just wondering... oh and I Will be adding the lock actuator to the tail, they like to "disappear" around here once in a while...
no that mean then mine was overlooked also i gotta 04 king cab and i thought i had it in there until i opened it up to replace the imaginary dirt filter
And you don't have to remove the glove box to access the filters. You can "pinch" the two tabs that hold the glove box when it's open (one is on the top left and the other is on the right side) and the whole box will swing down giving easy access to the filters. You also have to unhook the elastic cord on the right. Once you figure it out, it takes about 10 seconds...a LOT less time than removing the four screws!

I thought mine had them too, until I went to replace the imaginary filters, It seems only the Crew Cab SE and Crew Cab LE come with them, I have lost some airflow with the filters, I especially notice a steep increase in the amount of time to defrost the windshield.

You're right, only the CC got them. If someone got them with a KC, it was a fluke.

In 2004, only the SE and LE Crew Cabs came with the microfilters. You can add them but quite frankly, I've removed mine to clean them and found they don't do enough to warrant the cost. If you drive in real dusty areas and have to have them, they can easily be added to any Titan model.

Hurry down and get them before the dealer realizes your truck isn't supposed to have them! lol
