Spark Plugs at 114,000 Miles

Changed sparks plugs today, 114,000 use on them they looked surprising good at the electrodes, truck was still running strong, just thought it was time to change them. The only thing that was evident about them was two plugs the ceramic was cracked and one of them a piece of the ceramic fell off when I removed it from the socket. I guess over time the ceramic just gets brittle and cracks or maybe not. I did check the gap on all of the old plugs and they were real close to .043 except one, it was .030 guess one out of eight ain't bad. When changing the plugs just make sure the extension and the socket are well secured to the wrench to extract the plug, the plug well is deep, also the socket needs to have the rubber insert to pull the plug out also.Thank God we don't have to buy plug wires too, the plugs cost $9.00 a piece. Just thought ya'll wanted to know, that's all.

Your joking right. All gas engines have spark plugs. Injection is fuel not spark. Deisels don't have spark plugs they use compression to inginte the fuel. Some deisels have glow plugs for the intial lighting of fuel only.

Our trucks also don't have direct injection. Yeah, I'm also thinking April fools!

Re: Spark Plugs at 114,000 Miles

how did the rest of it look at 114,000 miles? wondering how things hold up to heat, etc...within that engine compartment... there's a lot of plastic on my '07.

Re: Spark Plugs at 114,000 Miles

I'm glad to hear they weren't seized into the head or anything. That is one concern I had, but didn't feel like pulling the plugs just to put anti-seize on the threads. I keep my vehicles for a long time, so I'm always thinking like a lunatic about stuff no normal people worry about.

The only problems I had were the same as everyone else with brakes, Nissan did the tsb on them at 85,000 miles, no problem since, Nissan changed the radio head,no problem since, had a front seal leak at the tranny, Nissan changed the whole transmission out, thats been fine, the truck does puff a little smoke when started up after it has sit for a weekend, drive my mustang on the weekends, the plugs were a little scary removing them, took a little muscle to brake them free (put some anti freeze on the new ones).
The only times that I get worried about the truck is when I get some water in the gas tank occiasionaly, I figured I must have put in about 400 tanks of gas already and the chances of water in the gas are high,if this happens a bottle of heet will do the trick. As for as the oil I use it has been Mobil 1 since the first oil change, no additives, have done the seafoam direct inject twice, one at 50,000 and one at 100,000 miles. As for as mods to the engine I have a K&N flat panel filter, airraid throttle body spacer, did the coolant bypass at the tb, I get 17 miles a gallon mostly highway traveling. Actually I did not drive the truck for over a year, bought a 95 cougar to use because of the miles on the Titan, now I am back in the Titan again, saved 70,000 miles off the Titan, when you do alot of highway miles things don't wear out as fast as city, except for tires 3rd set. Anymore high mileage ?'s fell free to ask, oh yea it still not a hemi.

I have 98k on my 04, will break 100k here soon.

Only problem with mine was breaks and drivers side seat. I'm on my second set of tires, those will need replacing soon. For oil I ran Mobile 1 for the longest but with the price of everything I switched to Castrol High Mileage around 80k and have been changing my own oil and using Fram filters ever since.
