Power Outlet in the bed

Does anybody know how the power outlet in the bed works? Is there a way to plug a 110v electrical item in the outlet?

Re: Power Outlet in the bed

The outlet in the bed is 12 V DC. To run 110 V AC you need to use an inverter. Depending on amperage, it may need to be wired to the battery with heavy gauge cable.

You can plug in a spot light an inverter , an air compressor or other 12 volt accessory.
I've never even touched mine in the two plus years I have the truck.

I believe this circuit is protected by a 10 amp fuse.

Re: Power Outlet in the bed

I checked the spring loaded cover on mine and it says 12V, 20 AMPS maximum. If you wanted to plug in an inverter, you'll need to keep it to under 240 watts or wire it direct to the battery with heavy gauge cables as the one guy recommended.

I use mine all the time for lights, and a fridge/freezer I carry back there. Pretty slick little feature if you ask me.

Regards,

John
