y-pipe versus deleted y- pipe

to some of you that like the stock y-pipe, it is a very big difference when you take it out. a friend of mine still has his and i dont, we have the same muffler except mine is dual in and dual out and his is single in and dual out. so we finally raced twice this weekend and it was no match. the first time we raced he jumped me by two truck lengths because i started spinning about a whole truck length, because i tried to leave to hard and before he got to the quarter mile mark i passed him like he was sitting still. the second time it was no match, we left at the same time with a little wheel spin and i beat him by at least two truck lengths. i forgot to say, we have the same truck and no other mods.

Re: y-pipe versus deleted y- pipe

I think you need more than two races to get any real data. Do you both have the same tires also? If you raced about 20 times or something and you one almost all then i'd say it makes a difference.

Re: y-pipe versus deleted y- pipe

yes, we both have 22 inch rims with 305/45 tires, and the performance was no match if he could jump me by 2 and i catch him before the quarter mile

Re: y-pipe versus deleted y- pipe

That's good to hear. I have the same setup (dual in dual out Flowmaster super 40) and I actually thought it felt slower?? It feels like it has alot more power at higher rpms now.

Re: y-pipe versus deleted y- pipe

i ordered the muffler out of the jegs magazine for $100 and had a local shop do my plumbing and install my muffler for $150, so the whole setup cost me $250

Re: y-pipe versus deleted y- pipe

My muffler used to be black, now it's rust! It's a Flowmaster super 40 to 4" stainless Magnaflow tips. I think it sounds sweet as hell and it's really not THAT loud. I've definatly heard louder.y-pipe-versus-deleted-y-pipe-img_2006.jpg
