First oil change today

Did the first oil change today at 1,299 miles. Yes, I know that's not much mileage on the factory fill but I'm peculiar about getting any manufacturing debris out of there. Went ok but thought I would have to do the old "drive a screwdriver through the factory filter" to get it off. Finally used a strip of rubber gasket to increase the friction of the wrench. The little oil chute under the filter is a nice touch. I went with Pennzoil Platinum....in the process of changing all our vehicles over from Mobil1 since it apparently isn't what it used to be and you can get equal or better performance from some other oils for much less money. Used the recommended Nissan filter although I was disappointed that it was made in China

. I'm glad to see a drain plug on the trans pan as well.

Yes the first oil filter removal is a b***h. They need to fire the gorilla that puts it on.

It's interesting how small that filter is. You would think a v8 would benefit from a larger filter area. Course I know that the relatively larger oil volume helps slow down the oil contamination rate.

There is no benefit to a larger filter housing, unless someone never changes the oil. Then I really don't think that would benifit them either. The only real important aspect of an oil filter is the amount of filtration, and that has no relevance to the size of the filter housing.
