Might be buying a Titan

Hello all, I'm in need of advise. I have a 2005 Frontier CC and like the post says I am thinking of buying a Titan. I like the Frontier but find myself sometimes needing/wanting more room, especially for work. I'm also getting 17-20 mpg with the frontier and if the Titan is not far off I'd be ok with that. The thing is, I've searched these forums and found alot of variances in mpg. I'm looking at picking up an 05 SE KC without Tow, 18k miles, in excellent condition for about $16000. I already have a buyer for my truck and the deal will work out to me paying about $500 more to get into the Titan.

I guess my only real concern is the gas mileage. If driven conservatively, can the Titan return decent mpg numbers.

As a sidenote I picked up a 2005 F150 xlt about a month ago for a steal. I had intentions of keeping that because of the cargo capacity, but after one week with it I unloaded it, luckily for $1000 more than I paid. I hated the lack of perfomance with the 5.4 and the gas mileage sucked. I know the Titan will kill the Ford in performance, but any idea on fuel consumption?

Thanks

NO NO NO.You dont buy them for fuel mileage. Honestly keep what you got if thats what your looking for.

Well, with my 7" lift and 35" tires, I get around 13.9-14mpg. Before my lift I was getting around 15. I had quite a heavy foot too. I'd say expect anywhere from 13-16 depending on your driving habits.

Re: Might be buying a Titan

I love my truck, but must admit the mileage sucks. My wife goes twice as far in her minivan and I get to hear about it.

I actually looked at a Frontier today, but decided to keep what I have for the room. Good luck with your decision, but definitely think twice about moving up if you are worried about fuel consumption. Just saw an article on drudge that said gas could be over 4 bucks before the end of the summer!

You are NOT going to get the same city mileage in a Titan that you do in your Fronty. With some obvious variables in driving styles and commutes, the Titan can return some pretty dismal numbers in town. However, even with the Big Tow and 2*, I could get just a hair under 18 on the highway.

conservative driving means you get the EPA estimate... that is 12mpg, accoriding to 2008 EPA guide.

Honestly, there are great things about the Titan, but fuel economy is one of it's ugly aspects.

I get anywhere from 12-15mpg in my Titan. When you buy a Titan, you are not so worried about gas mileage because the Titan is not a gas maximizer. That's where the Chevy's shine...my dad's Silverado gets 18-21mpg depending on his driving.

Re: Might be buying a Titan

should have kept the ford for mpg. I get 15 - 18 in mine and its got the 5.4, 4x4 crew cab and 3.73. Slower than titan by 1 sec to 60 but will keep up with a Frontier for sure.

Titan's are great trucks but it takes gas to make 'em quick... That being said if you had a 4x2 and kept your foot out of it you may only lose 2 mpg from your little nissan.
