Re: wireing harnes recall

its up to you. Dealer will determine if work is really needed. I recall seeing one person say the new cover sucks because of the noise it makes.

The new cover is fine and quiet. Do not hesitate, and get it done before they have to gut the interior.

Re: wireing harnes recall

I would have to agree, having it done now is better than the consequences latter. I had mine done about 3 weeks ago and haven’t noticed anything different with noise and function. I read the TSB about what must be done if they need to replace the harness and your truck definitely gets all torn apart inside. Even with the most conscientious mechanic I would have to wonder how it would all go back together like it was done at the factory.

Re: wireing harnes recall

Its only the King Cab because the rear doors open so far. 2004-2006 Go to:

http://www.nissanhelp.com/Recalls/Ti...20Cab/2006.htm

to see a PDF of the recall notice with serial numbers of effected Titans.

Re: wireing harnes recall

I'm going to fix it myself - can't give up the truck on a weekday and all they have on Saturday is oil-change drones that aren't allowed anywhere near my Titan!

Re: wireing harnes recall

It looks like crap. First , I don't think the dealer techs even looked at the TSB. Someone had posted the TSB on this forum a few months ago, so I knew what to look for. The dumb a$$es did not place the cover as described in the TSB, did a lousy taping job and left exposed wires where the harness enters the body. In addition they placed the harness plastic support in the wrong place. I should have just done it myself and saved the aggravation and wasted time.

Re: wireing harnes recall

Considering how the defect could case the seat belt pretensioners to not work, as in key components of the crash safety system, I can't believe someone would contemplate if it is worth getting this looked at by a dealer or not. And for those going to "fix" it themselves, I sure as heck hope you test all the wires for continuity, because just making the outer wrap stronger is a case of treating the systems and not the cause.

It's a recall, get it done!

wiring harness recall

The procedure is only done if the protective wrap is worn through a certain amount. If there is no sign of chafing on the wrap, there is nothing to be concerned about.

I think you are wrong. If there is damage to the wires, they have to remove the entire back half of your interior to replace it. If no damage is present, they install a new and stronger cover.

I looked at it again, you are correct.

Re: wireing harnes recall

Yea mine squeeks a bit now when I open and close the rear doors, not that bad though... The new harness kind of binds up and folds up when I open and close the doors now, kind of gets pinched in the door. I'm not certain it is any better than it was before the recall was done, it seems to be worse now, but with better casing...
