i just got the truck in march and i've already got some small rust spots starting! they're on the corners of the rear bumper. they're pretty small, the biggest being about the size of a pencil eraser. but still... i've only had the truck for 2 months!
a couple questions.. can i clean it off with something? or, should i just contact the dealer and have them replaced??

I'd contact the dealer and see what they'll do for you. I absolutely agree it shouldn't be doing that already. I haven't heard of this being an issue, I hope it's not. I hope the dealer does the right thing for you.

I'm in the same situation as you, however the rust spots are in different area. i did buy rust doctor to clean the rust and rust proof it myself. But i wanted to see the Dealership point of view first. they replied " you shouldn't have any rust" i also bought the truck on March 07. they say bring it in and we will take it from there.

but they didn't specify what they were going to do?
they did not. i told them that i will bring it in when its due for an oil change. you only had the truck for two months the rust that appear could be easily controled from a very early stage. i prosume that they will clean it and hopefully rustproof it. Thats why i bought the rust doctor and other type of rust cleaner. there were spots on the bedliner stopper so i tried the cleaner which i bought from pep boys a it removed the rustin 5 minutes but that left a new iron sheet under it which will rust in time. Rust Doctor actually turn rust into noncorrosive magnetite it's colored black and it will act as protector for several months to years i think.

I failed to wax my truck before winter and did not wash it much during. I noticed small specs of rust in my paint EVERYWHERE! and small spots on the bottom of my step bars (chrome westins). I assumed the spots were just "raildust" or what the industry calls "fallout". I used a claybar to the entire body and even on the chrome step bars. This cleared up the problem for me. Try the clay bar if you havent already.
i'm going to make them take care of it. it's just about time for the first service anyway so i'll have em do both while it's in there. thanks for the tip though, i've always wondered what those clay bars are for.

they're going to replace it and i'll have them service it while it's in there. i'm glad they're gonna replace it rather than just fix it up. hopefully it'll all work out well.

My Titan has now been through 3 NE winters. Needless to say the inside/backside of the bumpers is very rusty. I figure I might get 2-3 more yrs. out of them before they are rotted through. So a little rust in a couple months doesn't suprise me. My Civic which is 11 yrs old and seen that many winters has ZERO rust anywhere on it, my Titan is starting to remind me of a 1980 yota pickup. Guess I should get started on that wooden truck bed hehe.
