Re: 19,999 for 2004 se

I would not pay a penny more than 16500.00 and that is if it's near perfect and I loved the truck.

No one ever forces you to buy a depreciating liability which will hurt your wealth. If they do you will be taken advantage of. I would keep you car until you find the right deal.

Re: 19,999 for 2004 se

Just bought me an '04 Titan this weekend. Only 21k on the ticker and the SE King cab model. Got the buy price down to around $17k, but I saw some as low as $15-16k....unfortunately I was a little slow on contacting the dealers or I could have gotten a little better deal.

Like the others I think you can do better.

Re: 19,999 for 2004 se

best thing to do was post this... watch your numbers, especially with a baby coming.. my boy is 3 months old now, you'll need all your spare pennies. if you can wait to purchase a new vehicle (not that putting a baby in a civic is an easy chore) wait until the 08's are out and the 07's are all but gone. i bought my 04 on dec 28th 04... i got a really good deal out the door...

don't let them pull the "what do you want your monthly payment to be" bull**** on you.. ask them what the price of the vehicle is, then tell them if they write the magic number on the piece of paper you'll come back with a check and take the truck home...

finally, good luck with the baby! it'll be some of the best times of your life, very theraputic

I always say $1 a month now how many months would it take to pay it off?. But I always buy things that lose value with cash.

yeah, it's an easy monthly payment but the finacing charges on roughly 32,000 months was the deal breaker

i'll still never understand why the woman puts things on her credit card that can't be sold if need be i.e. food/gas... she pays it off with no interest but i still don't get it..

Re: 19,999 for 2004 se

Costco is offering $23k for a brand new SE CC after $3k rebate. It seems a better deal than an 04 for $20k.

Re: 19,999 for 2004 se

Just some more food for thought...cash flow is equal to power and flexibility. It is awesome you can put $5k down on a vehicle, but I hope you aren't tapping out your savings and checking accounts to do so. I'd much rather just put $2k or $3k down on a vehicle and have the remainder in my savings as a "rainy day fund". Good rule of the thumb is 2-3x the amount of your monthly bills. Now that you have a baby on the way, don't forget to think about the future. Life happens such as losing jobs, companies xferring their employees, etc, etc.

Not trying to tell you how to run your finances, just trying to help you avoid some of the mistakes I've made.

Re: 19,999 for 2004 se

Just for reference around march of last year I purchase my 04, LE 4x4 with BT DVD and a 5 year warranty for around 23 OTD. She had 26K miles.

I would do some more negotiation on the price of the truck, not to mention dont sell yourself short. Go to a dealers website in a different city near and check out their prices.

and Fman very good food for thought. Dave Ramsey FPU? Just curious.

Re: 19,999 for 2004 se

I've learned the hard way....but about a year ago a buddy passed along Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover book my way. Most of the items I had figured out already but there were some I picked up after reading. A very worthwhile investment in myself IMO. I'd recommend the book to anyone. I haven't participated in the FPU program, although I considered it.

no i have 3k in my savings. that stays there in case i get sick and cant work. or if my daughter gets sick and needs medical bills. the 5k is for the truck. and im putting that much down to get the payments i want and still be able to have a really nice truck. plus my girlfriend (pretty much unmarried wife) wants something with a lot of room in case we all take my truck somewhere. thanks for looking out though. 3 years ago i would have used everything and just put 8k down.
