2008 Nissan Titan or 2006

I live in Los Angeles, California and I found a 2006 Titan LE 4x4 with the off road package as well as the Big Tow. I got a quote from the fleet manager and he quoted me around 24K. It is fully loaded and has only 250 miles on it. I also talked with a salesperson and was told I could get a 2008 Titan SE without 4x4, or BT. I like the interior refinements, and I heard about the strengthened rearend, are those changes worth getting the 2008? What specicially did they do to the rearend?

Dave, new to TT

Re: 2008 Nissan Titan or 2006

There is a thread over in the towing/hauling forum about the 08 differences. It looks like springs, shackles, and axles are the main changes to give the increased payload. If you were planning on towing a 5th wheel, I'd say go for the 08, because the pin weight of the 5th wheel is significantly higher than tongue weight of a similar standard trailer.

To me the main changes on the 08 we just bought are the big brakes. But then that's because the wife tows her horses and the increased size is just extra insurance.
