Need A New Tailgate!!

Well I went and picked up the boat today and had to get some thing out of the bed and forgot to close the tailgate. Backed the boat up and had to make a pretty sharp turn which caused the tailget to get pinched into the wench stand on the trailer. Not sure it can be repaired and am assuming I will need to get a whole new tailgate. Has anyone had to replace one ?? Just wonder on the cost??

Hopefully you will be able to get it fixed without an insurance claim. That can be expensive in the long run. Best of luck.

A new tailgate from the dealer is retail at around $350. You still need to get it paint. I have seen them online for as low as $280 but add the shipping fees and it might be about the same as your local dealer. Check local junkyard or chop shop

Like blavis stated, insurance claim might be best option.

I did exactly what you did when I was like 19 to my Dad's Dodge Ram. My dad paid for it so i don't know the cost. Definitely learned a lesson though!

I think it’ll be hard to make it look the same, possible, but costly. One time, I almost got the same mistake. Good enough that it was only the Nissan Tailgate Handle that was damaged. I didn’t have to worry with the replacement.
