A member asked me about my air bag compressor so I am posting pics of it mounted in the aem intake enclosure. I hope these pics help, it was the best place that I could find to mount the compressor. It stays fairly clean and dry.
It is very helpful. That is a very pro install and looks great. Are you happy with the air bags and the AEM? What differences did you see with the CAI? I have an '05 LE KC and may now install the CAI sooner rather than later.
I am very happy with both, the intake I personally didn't notice any improvement in performance but the sound is great. I have had the bags on for about 1.5 years and don't have any leaks or problems at all. I highly recommend both.
Great location, never thought of that. I bought a 50 dollar "Truck Tire Inflator" at the auto parts store. Supppossed to be twice the normal volume. Only using it to inflate tires when needed. I'd like to get rid of the plastic housing and mount just the actual compressor somewhere. I may now have the answer. Very safe location, and easy access too. Time to disassemble it now!

Well the air intake will arrive today and be installed by evening. Do I need to disconnect my battery. Also, where exactly did you drill through your firewall?

There is no need to disconnect the battery. I drilled up as high as I could without hitting anything important. I used a rubber grommet to protect the tube and wires going through the firewall. Let me know if there is anything else you need help with.
Thanks for all the great advice. I got the AEM CAI in and went ahead and mounted the compressor like you did. Everything looks great and works fantastic. The only problem is that I lose a little air sitting overnight so must have a small leak to find. Again, thanks a lot for all the help!!

You are very welcome. Just air up the system and get a little squirt bottle with some soap and water and you should be able to find it fairly easy. It is probably one of the push in connection. I have had mine for almost 2 years and have no leaks at all.
yep those intakes are good for something, i mounted my hid ballast in it
