really not sure if this is the correct area, but a mod can move it where ever they need to.
as some of you knew i ran a detail shop for rahal mercedes in pittsburgh for bout 3 years. heres a couple of my recent jobs for some people i work with i only took pics from two of the vehicles ive done in the past couple weeks, but ill be taking more as im doing more cars. its been a hobby of mine for awhile now, and i just recently started documenting my work
also if anyone is in the denver area that would be interested in a detail, please PM me and we can work it out. im fully mobile and am willing to do it around your time
Awesome pics, great job. One recommendation? The wheel wells. Especially on the Beamer. Stoner "Trim Shine" a great product for that.
Lol, the joys of extreme detailing. I wash my wheel wells regularly and use Vinylex but I think I'd have to pull the wheels off the Beamer to get in there.

I usually cover all the electronic stuff & Intake with plastic bags, then spray the engine with a degreaser. Go over the engine with a brush, Rinse then wipe down the hoses & other stuff with a protectant.
Sorry Man...I thought you were doing OK till I saw Pic# 16.... See I owned a Detail shop also for quite some time. You missed the underside of the Air In-take hose....you only wiped down the top of it. The key to a "great" detail job is getting all sides.
Here's the deal... You always do the Motor first so you can spray a water based protectant everywhere and not have to worry about getting it on the paint.
I reality though.....Protectants are not as good as you might think because they are dirt magnets. They hold dirt to the hoses and when the hose vibrates, the dirt acts as sandpaper causing wear on the hoses....
The best way to protect the hoses is by wiping down the excess to get a clean, "dry look".
Nice effort though you were 95% there.
Also BMW pic # 14.....Wheel wells are dirty and Tire protectant should cover the first row of treads.
BMW pic # 18....Door pillars have fingerprints on them
Pic 19 has Swirl on door.
Last but not least....clean camera lense
Sorry for bustin on ya....but stuff like that used to always get me when I saw other detailers cars.....they always forgot the little things....and always charged a premium price.
I was the best in my area and charged the most and when I was done..... only Jesus could make it look better.
im ok with that. i ran the shop for rahal mercedes in wexford
as for the wheel wells, wed normally use black spray paint or undercoating vs tire shine due to the fact that it would last longer.
mind you, those pics were not full details.. i only did buff and waxes on them, and sprayed down the engines. i wasnt too concerned with going all out on these cause the engine was just a courtesy.
my steps when i do a full detail on a car are, (exterior steps only)
1)black out the wheel wells. either paint, undercoating, or tire shine
2) degrease the engine, first, dress the engine, and THEN wash the car. (to remove any shine that got on the paint, window etc)
3)while washing the car, i use clay bar to remove any possible overspray from the wheel wells, bugs, road tar, fall out etc. re wash to get the film off the car.
4) wheels get cleaned with a long stem brush to get the back part of the wheel and remove all break dust, and perform any other wet work ie.
the door jams get degreased and sprayed down, spare wheel/tire (if in a car, and if used) gets cleaned
5) rinse and dry, take an airline to the vehicle (or if youre doing it yourself and dont have one, a leaf blower will work as well) to remove all the water from the cracks.
6) if the vehicle has plastic parts, ill tape them up, cause if you ever got wax or compound on those plastic pieces, theyre a ***** to get clean
7) run a yellow wool pad with my cutting glaze
8) after the car has been buffed with a wool pad, its folowed up with a blue foam pad with a filler and low RPM speed.
9) re wash again to remove all splatter off of the car, ex. windshield wipers, the louvered cowl, etc
10) wax
11)pop the hood, open all doors, (gas door as well) and wipe out any wax, remaing compound etc.
12) wipe down engine bay, re spray areas needed
13) remove wax with a micro fiber towel
14) clean windows and wipe wheels down
now these are just steps i use to do the outside of a full detail, the interior gets a complete overhaul as well, which is a whole another story

Remember: Foam pad at leat twice! ;]-
i understand some of the critique and i thank you for it, but you also dont know what happend.
as for the bmw "swirl"
i only used a foam pad on the car since the paint wasnt really that bad. and since you owned a shop, you should know that theres no way possible to swirl a car with a foam pad
as for the tires, and wheel wells, as i stated before, neither of these were full detail cars, just buff and waxes. the tires were slightly dirty cause i had it outside wiping the car down, and going over things and it started to rain, and had to bring it back inside.
as for the finger prints, youre right, you got me on them
as for the engine dressing, i posted on club titan about the same thing, and stated the same as well that tire shine looks the best but will attract dust. hence why when you spray your tires down, and dont wipe the wheels clean with some sort of cleaner (you can use anything, including glass cleaner to remove the silcone) the shine will attract the dust both from the road and the brakes.
finally.... i did have the lense clean hahahaha, i took a look at the pics whne i took them and saw the spots, re wiped the lense a couple times and they kept showing up. thats only set of pics that those spots were on. i havent touched the lense since, and my other pics have been clear... i dont know
Ok. I can settle this. Let's have a competition. I'll bring my truck to one of you first, my treat. I'll even buy the beer. Then in about 5 or 6 months, I'll visit the other one....with beer, of course.... and we will see who did the better job. I'll be fair and honest but only if you do it for free... Honest I will.

hahahahahahaha
good deal, the only prb is, im stationed out in denver, and going to be stationed at san antonio in a couple months so cant make it up for that
i want to set the record straight, im not trying to fight over the internet, i agree he saw some things and to be honest id do the same thing and nit pick. its part of detailing, you look at other peoples work. i have no hard feelings for what he said. but i just had to clarify why those things werent taken care of. if the car was a full detail, and looked like that, i can understand.
Well, maybe if skiboi is game, I can visit him first then. He's right here in PA. You'll just have to wait your turn when I take my vacation and go Titan cruising in the Great Ole U S of A!

As long as we're being picky, lol, I love the way 303 Aerospace Protectant works under the hood and inside the vehicle. It just makes everything look new without adding any shine and it's not a dust magnet. It doesn't hold up too well in the rain but thats why I use Vynilex on the exterior bits and tires.
Happy detailing all, now get out there and shine em up right.
Hey USAFs13 .... great explanation....You're definitly correct in the fact that there is a major difference between a "quickie Detail" and a "complete" one. Please don't think I'm breaking your stones here...I was just being particular to the "details"....It's almost like those find the hidden picture games where you get excited to finally finish. So all is in good fun and no harm meant to any of my Titan Brothers.
Oh...and nice try Beauty but you'd need a lot of beer....I mean a loooottttaaa beer....lol
