Angry HELP PLEASE! Titan wont start!

At work right now. Truck has been working perfectly all morning and now I go to start it... put the key in (beep, beep, beep[normal]), and turn the key and nothing, not even a click!

Right now got jumper cables hooked up to my manager's Avalanche and now i turn the key to start and it clicks really quickly but does not even try to turn the engine over..... very disappointed in my truck right now... i hope its just a battery. Anybody have suggestions?

Also, the speedo and other needles bounce up and down quickly after i try to start the truck

Re: HELP PLEASE! Titan wont start!

Try placing the gear selector in neutral. Make sure to set your parking brake! Sometimes the park switch on the tranny goes bad, or it might not be fully in the park position.

Yeah my manager told me and I tried that, no luck.

Also, tried cleaning battery terminals...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Titan wont start!

I could be the battery, if there is a dead or shorted cell, jumping it won't work. Got a voltmeter?

Re: HELP PLEASE! Titan wont start!

Might need to leave a few minutes to put a charge in there. You said it went from nothing to fast clicks. Most likely it is the battery. Nissan betteries are NOT maintenance free and the water level needs to be looked after, especially in a hot climate like Florida.

Re: HELP PLEASE! Titan wont start!

Alright guys thanks for all the help. Works.

We left the jumper cables on and truck running for like 30min and my titan wouldn't start, terminals were tight and everything.

So we took the battery to Advance Auto and tested it, bad battery, said to "REPLACE". So I bought a new battery and it started right up. I would never have imagined it would be the battery because I'm in construction for a large home builder and I have started my truck maybe 10 times prior to it failing and it start with ease each time.... I start my truck probably 30-40times a day just moving from job to job and to the construction trailer. Appeared to be the original battery too.

Oh well, all is good now. Thanks guys

Re: HELP PLEASE! Titan wont start!

Also, I never left anything on to drain the battery. Just amazing how the battery instantly failed. Its a ton of weight off my chest though because the engine wasn't even trying to turn over, I had a gut feeling I'd be throwing Nissan the better part of a grand to fix it. Turns out $75 did the trick.

Re: HELP PLEASE! Titan wont start!

Sounds just like a bad battery.. To start and keep the battery from shorting the attempted jump start. Try disconnecting the pos terminal and then jumping it using the terminal. Then reconnect the batery and get to a parts store for a new one..

Your battery probably broke inside. I had a 1year old battery fail because of that. I could jump start the truck, and drive it as long as I didn't turn on the headlights. Happened out in the boonies, and we had to walk a couple of miles in soft sand, back to where we were camped to get my buddy's truck. Glad we weren't farther away. Bought a new one at a local parts store in So. Utah, and AutoZone refunded my money when I took the bad one back to them.

PS That was in my 92 Silverado
