it's usually $4-$5K more for the diesels on the heavy-duty pickups.

Titan Diesel for 2009
Navistar-sourced motor for light-duty pickup
By BOB GRTIZINGER
AutoWeek | Published 06/15/07, 11:32 am et
News reports from Japan confirm that Nissan will put a diesel in its Titan full-size pickup truck by 2009, but so far the Japanese automaker shows no hint of interest in launching a truck in the heavy-duty pickup segment.
Nissan reportedly will buy V8 diesel engines from International Truck and Engine Corp. Automotive News has reported that the company also may offer a low-budget V6 gasoline engine in the Titan in the future. The Titan’s only powerplant is a 5.6-liter, 317-hp, 385-lb-ft V8 gasoline engine.
Nissan had hoped to sell 100,000 Titans per year when the truck debuted in the 2004 model year, but so far the model has sold at about 85,000 per year.
It's not like Nissan hasn't already built diesels? Why not an in house variety? Until I see something concrete from more than one source, color me skeptical.

I will try but its but its one screened images like the dif lock light and the other info lights. Anybody that has an 08 or whatever just look to the right of the info screen. Its down there all by itself. But we dont even know if this is going to be a 09 guage cluster?

It's gonna be hard to give up this awesome gas truck I have now, but I will almost certainly do it for a Titan diesel. I test drove a CTD recently but did not like the truck compared to the Titan.
This frankly, is what I have been waiting for.

It's just going to be a motor swap. Should be able to tow more cuz it will be more powerful. But it's definitely not going to be a heavy duty truck like the f-250. I believe the scrapped the idea of a heavy duty truck for now. Too hard of a market to break into. They would have to come in with lots of different options.
In our area, Diesel fuel has recently dropped below 87 Octane Gas. It had been as high as or even higher than 93 Octane. So fuel is fluctuating wildly.
Diesel engine (as an option) cost is coming down drastically, in some vehicles. Some only charge about 1500 in a car, as opposed to 4000 in the past (Volkswagon IIRC, etc). The market is finally making real moves away from conventional gasoline engines in the mainstream. So, Diesels, and a variety of Hybrids could be common in 5 years in our cars and light trucks.
Look at the whole body of evidence, not just one or two sources that are limited to the Titan of today. Maybe someday, I can get a Diesel/Electric Titan, since I can't afford a D/E Locomotive.
