Diesels are also much heavier, Nissan will have to beef up the front end to accept a diesel unless its some sort of small one.

Yes. The Navistar T444E (the old 7.3 powerstroke) weighed over 1000 lbs. I don't know what the VT365 (the 6.0) weighs but I assume it isn't much lighter.

Not so anymore. The MB 320 CRD is cast aluminum and cost only $1000 more than the gas engine. MPG is much higher too

...checked out the 08 F250 Powerstoke and it is nice. C'mon NISSAN, hurry up with that diesel TITAN!

Re: Diesel V8 Titan CONFIRMED for 2009

i guess an even better questions is:

If they do come out with a diesel engine for 09, at what time will we get aftermarket support?

I would guess since it's a International motor, similar to the old ford powerstrokes, some aftermarket things would work with little issue?

Re: Diesel V8 Titan CONFIRMED for 2009

Clean diesel is the wave of the future! Test drove the new 6.4L Powerstroke last week, not really even a hint of diesel exhaust smell.

Diesels are great, I have an 02 Superduty with the 7.3L as one of my other work vehicles. I love it!
Dont get me wrong I also love my Titan, I really dont drive the superduty as much as i used to.

Ford is planning a diesel in the F-150 for 09, so is dodge, and GM in their half tons. Nissan will have to do something to keep up with them all.

I would love to see a navistar powerplant in the Titan, The 7.3L is an animal, and ectremely reliable, 6.0L had it issues but who doesn't from time to time. (Look at the Titan rear-ends, brakes, etc.) The new 6.4L is absolutly Amazing..................I mean come on even the turbo has a turbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do miss that wonderfull turbo whine when i am not driving the Superduty!!!

Re: Diesel V8 Titan CONFIRMED for 2009

Does anyone know what the Titan sales are to date? I know that Nissan wanted to hit 100,000 per year but have been short every year. Maybe the redesigned 2010 model will change things especially if they add a diesel.

Yep, I'm not interested in a Renault deisel.Cummins,Duramax,Cat,MAYBE Volvo, and Isuzu would be fine because that is who was in on some of the design of the Duramax.

The Navistar in the Ford IS a Navistar problem. This is not an engine management problem on Fords side.

Apparently. There was a story on pickuptruck.com about it some time ago, with an artist rendering of what it would look like. A redesign in 2010 seems more likely than any major changes in 2009, especially since we haven't heard a peep about any mule Titan spottings anywhere. I imagine they will launch a higher HP/TQ gas engine and light duty diesel all in one shot.

I'm going out today with my camera and a large spot light to try and get a photo of that glow plug indicator.

That's why it's known as the 6.OH-NO

Diesel has lost a lot of appeal to me since it's hovering around $4.00/gal around here. Not worth it IMO for the couple extra mpg and the extra cost of the diesel motor.
