Hi guys, i am in the market for a Nissan Titan. I currently have an Infiniti G35 Coupe, but it has gotten to the point where it is no longer suitable to daily drive. I am looking at getting a Truck so i can trailer my car to events etc. My question is, do i need the 4x4 version for towing my car or is the 2X4 just as easily capable. I live in Dallas so in the winter its not that common to have snow or ice. I appreciate you advice and look forward to becoming a proud owner of a Titan.
You don't need 4X4 to tow. 4X4 is handy if you will be towing a boat especially on slippery boat ramps etc. But for your needs it would probably not be neccessary unless you do plan on towing in snow or ice.
The Titan comes in a 4X2 version with the "big tow" option.

Where you are, you're right. You wouldn't need the 4x4 option much at all. As TN stated, you might want it for boats on a ramp. Otherwise a 2WD version will suit you well with the advantage of being cheaper initially and over the long run.

4x4 is very handy to have but it is not a must for towing. If you do offroading consider it. But if its just your car on paved roads or minor gravel roads. 4x2 will suit you very well. Dont get cought up in the tundras payload or towing ability. Those #'s are only for the single cab model. Step up into a 4 door and it changes all together. Titan simply cant be beat for a 150/1500 class of truck.

great info! yeah, my research has landed me 100% with the Titan.
Thanks for your warm welcome everybody, hopefully in the next couple weeks i can post up a pic of my Titan!
As for the G. It is greddy twin turbo running the HKS FCON Vpro engine management with 750cc injectors. The motor is not built and it is maxed out at 9.5 psi. I Dynoed at 404whp on a conservative tune. here is a pic of the motor.
For what it's worth I think the towing capacity is actually slightly greater on the 4X2 due to the same power but reduced weight w/o the 4X4. I've been towing a 7000lb travel trailer around and can tell you the Titan's power and tranny handles it great. That being said it's a lot of trailer behind a 1/2 ton truck. I personally wouldn't go much over 7K for a regular tow.
You could tow that with a smaller truck as well. You'll get better mileage with a Frontier, which is rated to pull much more than you're towing.

Are you serious? There are other reasons that people get trucks besides slick power and absurd towing capacity.
You seem like the kind of guy that wants the best. There's a reason you got the infiniti and not the nissan. The car is nice; a couple too many stickers, but nice. If you get a Frontier, you will regret not getting that one step up. Get the Titan, 4x2 with big tow, and whatever creature comforts float your boat. You will be very happy, not just satisfied, I guarantee it.

Here's my truck and an angry little force-fed 4-banger:
I had two Frontiers prior to my Titan. They towed my trailer well but every decent bump I hit would shake the truck too. The Titan does NOT feel the trailer at all in the same areas I used to feel it, and on flat roads it feels as if you weren't pulling anything. There is a difference and is worth the cost.
Also you won't be as close to the tow limit of the truck.
Titan = 9400 pounds
Frontier = 6000 pounds
