Anyone know if there is another fuel filter besides in the tank? Friend says all gas engines have another on frame rail or in engine compartment? My truck has is acting like a bad fuel pump but what to check some other clues first.?

Only one gas filter, attached to the pump in the tank.

It failed to start, had power but would nor run, like it had no gas.It is at the dealer but is starting fine now????.They will not change the fuel pump until the problems come back. This happened 2 days in a row.I tried about 10 times each before it would start & run correctly.Took it around the blockk & it died. Finally after 10 tries it stared & drove it home.Let me know how you make out.Maybe water in gas?? Anybody.please reply with comments. Thanks!!

I have 04 se crew cab,4wd & off road pkg w/58k mi.

The fuel filter is supposedly a non servicable item. Want a new fuel pump? easy! Tell them that your fuel guage is all F'd up and sometimes reads 3/4 when full or never shows full. The fuel pump and sending unit are one unit so it all gets replaced.

Re: fuel filter

Did exhaust leak cause failure of module? Did they refuse, or you simply ignore or unaware of, he exhaust leak?

If you switch mechanics around in the middle of a job real disasters can happen. It may sem simple enough, but it is just not a "Great" idea to switch who is managing a poject in any field of work. Autos included. It is all about communication.
