Hit and run

So I drive 2 1/2 hours to see my family in Tampa, I'm there 30 mins at most and BAM I get in my first accident. And to top it off it's a hit, and run. I was at a stop light turning right, she was in the left lane to turn left. I guess she thought she could make it in my lane before I moved, and she clipped me. I was on the phone with the cops while she drove off so I gave them the plate number, it came back to nothing. So I'm screwed no way to get money from her. Thankfully the damage isn't that bad. But, it's bad enough.
Has anyone dealt with Allstate before? They are telling me it's going to be almost a week before I can have someone look at my truck, and that it doesn't matter what the estimate is from Nissan, I get whatever their people estimate the damage as. Is this true?

That tag # is got to exist somewhere. Was it a Fl. tag? Could it have been from another state?? Sometimes the system just doesn't come up with a tag the first time. Check back latter it may show up. And then hunt them down.

I can say that in Texas, you get your choice of who you will use for your repair. It's law. Having said that, AllState has shops that they partner with. You might not get them to buck up more than what they can get you a repair done for at one of those shops they partner with.

hey nissanchick where was this ? im in tampa and i can have my mom run the tag for you because she is a tampa police officer and has been for 20 years, ill see what she can do for you...it has to belong to someone....unless you wrote it down wrong PM me alrighty ?

Another thought. If it isn't against some sort of rule around here, put up the tag#, if you know what state tag belongs to, and description of car. Maybe one of our officers on here can find it or somebody else might recognize it and let you know about it. This could turn out to be just one more of the many services that T.T. offers.

Allstate is one of the worst of the major insurance outifits administrating claims. You have the right to take your truck to the repair shop of your choosing and have them deal with Allstate. Don't let them tell you otherwise.

hey sorry to hear about you truck. by law you can take you truck to any body shop of your choosing. they will try to tell you that if you take to a shop they recommend they will give you a better warrenty. not true. they have to return your truck to pre-accident condition no matter where you take it. the reason they tell you to take it to a particular place is because those shops they send you to give them a price break on parts and sometimes even labor. i do body body work here in nevada and believe it or not allstate actually has thier own body shop here in las vegas. kind of a conflict of interest if you ask me but who am i anyway. no matter where you take it you have to hope that the guy working on it is having a good day. i will say this you must be persistant but dont make them rush on you truck. you dont want to rush the bodyman or the painter. a rental car is another thing. you shouldnt have to pay for anything but the deductable. for some reason they like to try and take away your rental car. and whatever you do dont feel bad about chewing some ins. company a$$. they are used to it and thats why you pay so much money to them. i hope all goes well and if you have any questions let me know. best of luck to you.

that sucks! i thought it was teh bumper only but i see she got the fender too. the one on the door is strange.. mirror hit?

i got nailed last week by a corolla, but it hit the hitch dead on. hurt them a lot more.. headlight + hood. guy didnt want any of it because i am sure he would be in trouble had i called it in. it was raining so i let them go because i had no damage. lucky.

I was at 110th, & US19 I was in Pinellas Park, so I guess not EXACTLY tampa.
When I was on the phone I was just saying the tag # to the dispatcher. I was on the phone telling them I got into an accident, didn't expect her to run because she did pull over. So when she did haul *** I started screaming the tag, and couldn't write it down. For some reason they wouldn't give me the tag # but I'm gonna call either today in the morning to ask for it.

you either had the Pinellas County SO or Pinellas park PD. My buddy use to work for PP but he moved to another agency. I honestly wouldn't expect much help from them at this point but you never know.

That sucks...like what was mentioned before you can take it to whoever you want but each insurance company has partner repair shops. When mine was hit..almost same place opposite side it was like 1000 bucks..the XE's have an all plastic front so that whole front plastic piece is replaced. Of course you only have to pay your deductible and maybe get reimbursed if/when they find out who hit you. Mikes auto body is a standup repairshop...its on Washburn road off of Sarno past the dogtrack. I have had mine in there after each of my accidents and they take good care of you. I dont know if they partner with Allstate as i have progressive but I'm sure they do.

Probably uninsured and/or unlicensed.

If that's the case you'd have to pay your deductible anyway.

Been there, done that and didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.

Sorry to hear about you trouble. I have had no problems with Allstate getting them to repair my vehicles using the shop of my choice. Just keep asking politely - insisting that they satisfy you - after all you are the polocy holder and they simply hate loosing business.

sorry to hear about that, but atleast you didnt get hurt. your pics dont come across looking taht bad but i guess it could have been worse. i hope you get that worked out right for ya.
