tundra weak frame check out this video

im guessing the titan would of been similar to the ford in handling
in my opinion, as long as toyotas been making trucks... the tundra is a joke

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

Wow. Not to defend that Tundra (trust me, I'm NOT a fan) but it almost looks like it got into a resonance of sorts that just really made it crazy. BUT, on a truck with the alleged towing capacity of the Tundra, it's just not acceptable.

It's also interesting to note that at a Ford event, they only consider the Chevy and the Tundra to be competitors? Where's the Dodge and Titan?

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

Something like this brings up so many questions as to why each selection was made and what criteria was used for those selection.
What option package-std or off road
Tire package
Tire pressure

Those are the first three from my feeble mind. I'm sure there are more variables.
I also wondered how the Titan would perform in that particular test. Apparently Ford feels that Chevy and Toyota are their main competitors. Or maybe the Titan and Ram just performed better. Inquiring minds want to know.

If you liked that vid, enjoy this one:

I'd like to see how the Titan's fully boxed/welded frame would do...

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

did you read any of the responses from those vids? There was one saying that ford took out 4 of the 8 bolts on the tundra bed. There is another on the frame strength saying that ford is using an older tundra frame and that titans are only going to a fully boxed frame in 08.

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

I believe you will see more and more of this stuff being released from the big 3 because they feel the need to defend themselves against the onslought of the japs. There is no doubt that Ford and Chevy have a stronger frame, but really does that matter? Most of the truck buyers dont use a truck for what it is meant for, so do they really need a fully boxed frame? Have you ever found yourself driving 28 mph over continous speedbumps? Would you do it? Of course not. For what most americans will use the truck for, the Tundra frame is enough. I would really like to see how the new Titan held up aginst the compitition. As far as the chevy hop on the course, that says to me that the frame is simply even more ridged than the fords. Oh well I could be a little biased there.

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

As someone mentioned above there are way to many variables that we don't know about their testing. I am a Titan fan through and through, but I am defending the Yota. Simply because it is a better built longer lasting truck than the others in the test. i honestly had a hard time choosing between toyota and Nissan. I only chose Nissan because of the better build quality and looks. The Titan has been proved sonce day one and the Tundra is still too new. The Tundra is more like our cousin than the American trucks so I think we should give it some credit. But if it were up against a Titan the Nissan would win hands down!!!

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

i just dont see how taking some bolts out of the bed could cause it to hit the cab... unless they were all removed.... maybe bounce up and down but it clearly twisted

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

Yes frame strenght matters.

they have no reason to take bolts out. it comes down to geometry and momentum and they used that in the test against toyota.

remember, the only sellling point for the tundra has been "toyota reliability". nothing else! ever.

toyota is yet to actually make a truck.

Re: tundra weak frame check out this video

A friend of mine bought the tundra i warned him hehe his bed bounces like crazy not that bad like in the video but it is there on some of the roads here in new york it is downright scary he says. Going on a highway like the van wyck here which is full of pot holes the back of that truck is all over the place.
