Walmart and was told that they could not rotate the tires because they needed a special tool to let the computer know the sensors were changing location. I think they were full of crap but they insisted they were not authorized to rotate tires w/the TPS. Any truth to this?

I would imagine not because the computer doesnt read each individual tire. It just looks for any low tire. Rotate away. Now my Chevy is a different story. The dealer has to rotate mine. What a bummer.

It's referenced in the owners manual, no need to reset the TPS system for tire rotations. I had mine rotated two weeks ago, and all they did was rotate and tighten with a torque wrench. No light after 300 miles so far.

Nissan originally DID state you would have to reconfigure every time you rotated. This irroneous info was conrtained in a PDF I have that was published in 2003. I believe it is a condensed maintenace manual of some sort. Answer above is correct.
You can rotate tires at home with no problem. Dismounting tires can be a bit difficult. And do not use after market tires caps, even with brass inserts. They somehow corroded on to the sensor. Fancy caps with a nylon insert simply would not unscrew! I only use OEM valve cap now. I broke one of my sensors, cost over a hundred to install a new one.

I have never had computer reset after rotating the tires. The only time I seen my tire light give me any indication I was low on air and another when I towed my boat it happened in the same area I figured it to be due to the heat and weight of the boat.

The tire store is full of BS. I have my tires rotated a couple of times already and no need the reset the TPMS. This might be there way to not r&b your tires if they were very busy and you wanted a static balance (all the weights on the inside of the rim) it is a time consuming process.
Same here. I program at the minimum of one car a day and as many as 40 a day during the week. The only time you would to reprogram the tires was if you have the display for the tires that tells you which tire was low or was changing a sensor. The display is usually on vehicles with navi except the Quest, all Quest's have it. All others it really doesn't matter unless you have a Consult-II and can see which tire is which. Another thing, if you are in the area of another vehicle being programed(say 150 feet or less) while yours is being programed, your car might be programed with someone else's tires, or visa-versa, FYI.
I second that. Walmart? lol..are you nuts? I'm surprised they didn't try and lube your muffler bearings! You ever take a good look at what Walmart hires? NO FRIGGIN" WAY!!!!!!!!

The buletin was probably for the 350Z and Murano. They have readouts for each tire and must be re-set everytime the tires are rotated.
But, most other cars do not.
