Duramax?

I got a friend (who hasnt ever ridden in or driven a duramax) saying that a Duramax would own a titan and this and that about how the Duramax is a million times better than the Titan. And that the Titan is just a 350z with a truck body on it. He was talking bout how it CANT tow and what not. So then he starts bangin out about how a titan cant tow 20,000 lb's. So i was like " look neither can you stupid your truck, its only rated to tow 12,500". After that day he think that a Duramax is wayyy faster than a Titan and that a Duramax can do 140 mph. I say bs. He says a STOCK Duramax without the governor can do 140. what do you guys think? Can you help me brainstorm arguement ideas?

Re: Duramax?

With the right big dollar mods the duramax can beat the titan. Stock you'll smoke him in a race, got more bang for you dollar in the titan that the GM for the price, unless your working the truck day in and day out with a heavy trailer -the diesel would be the way to go. I've also heard people telling me of that the new Diesels can't be modded to much and are going to break down left and right with all the emissions stuff on them. Guys around here are actually switching from diesel to gas trucks. Either way, both nice trucks.

Re: Duramax?

Stock trucks by themselves the Titan is faster. Hook a load to them though and the Duramax will walk the dog verse a Titan, all about torque. Both trucks modified the diesel will still win, too much hidden power in those turbo diesels.

Re: Duramax?

When it comes to a head to head, stock for stock run, the Titan will own the Duramax. In my squadron we have many diesel one ton pickups including pre '04 rams with Cummins diesels, post '04 Cummins rams, '05 Duramaxs, and '06 powerstrokes. Out of all of them, the Duramax is by far the nutless truck we have and my titan can beat all of them except the powerstroke. Believe me. We all tried it.

Re: Duramax?

For all of those calling his friend stupid because of the truck he has, maybe you should reread the post. the guy has never ridden in or driven a duramax.

As for the titan being a 350Z with a truck body, i say hell yeah, nothing wrong with that! It all depends on what you want to use it for.

If you want to tow a house, you get a ford powerstroke, if you want a sporty, light duty full size, you get a titan. But by no means do u even consider owning a GM product, which verifies exactly how retarded your freind is. End of discussion.

Re: Duramax?

Look, let me settle this right now from an unbiased point of view.
1. The titan will smoke the new duramax hands down stock for stock.
2. The Duramax is a towing monster and will out power any stock powerstroke, z-hauler. 365 HP and 660 trq. (I am not sure about the new dual turbo powerstroke that just came out on the 3500 dually)
3. My duramax has a 13,000 lb tow capasity with a 2 1/2 in reciever. Not a 2" like the Titan
4. The Titan for its size is a towing monster. I proved that over and over again, But compared to the diesel in towing its no compitetion.
5. As far as breaking down? I have 11000 miles on mine in 4 months and not even a hint of a problem.
6. The new chevy has improved fit and finish dramaticly and is no longer the crap they produced last year.
7. If I mod this turbo diesel the idiot that was smacking the Titan would be very correct. It would leave the Titan in a cloud of black turbo smoke.
8. I only wish the Titan made a diesel, that would have been the choice for me.

I forgot to address this. 140???? Its not a vette! Mine will top out at 95. Yup thats not a typo I repeat 95!!!! Thats it, you can push the gas all the way to the floor it WILL NOT go faster than 95. But when you think about it who would be dumb enough to tow a load faster than that?

Re: Duramax?

I have not commented since I traded my Titan in for an 05 Duramax. I needed something that could pull my 8000 lb camper. Could the Titan do it? Yes it did for a year, but then started having a few issues. The suspension was a little softer, which i fixed with airbags, and the rear end was starting to howl and the tranny was not loving me. Do I think the Titan is the best half ton truck out there........You bet your a$$ i do and would buy another in a second.....but they are not a 3/4 ton. I have been a Nissan guy as well as Titan enthousiast for several years now, but they will not hold up and do a 3/4 ton deisels job.

On to the mods: I recently added a 5 inch exhaust, 85 hp predator tuner (at the wheels), and pyro and boost gauges. Let me tell you what, it would eat my Titan's lunch. With approxatmatly $1000 i should be close to 400 rwhp and 750 ft lbs at the wheels. Could I do this with the Titan? No, but they are totally different animals.

My tuner raised the governor from 100 to 120, and yes it will do 120...lol Probably not the safest in a 7500 lb truck, but who is counting?

I liked the fit and finish of the Titan better, but after towing with the Duramax i could not go back. If Nissan would actually buck up and produce a deisel, I would be in line for a test drive.

So, is the GM a piece of crap? No, after many test drives it was as close to the Titan as I could get.....The salesman was dissapointed and told me not to compare the two......lol!!!!!

Stock for stock the Titan will win a race, probably even the 1/8 mile with my modded Duramax. But the 1/4 is a different story, where the Titan falls off at higher speeds, the Duramax hauls some serious arse.

Wow, how is that for a rant? lol I loved my Titan, but it could not handle the 8000 lb camper the way the Duramax does.

Oh yeah, notice how I dont refer to it as a Silverado, but as a Duramax? There is a reason for that....lol I bought it for the engine and tranny, def not because it is a damn chebby!!!!!!!!
