What comes with Big Tow

I found a 2007 Titan with everything on it I want but the Big Tow. This truck has the Off-road on it so the rear end gearing isn't an issue. What else comes with this package that I might want. I tow a 3500-4000lb boat almost every week so towing is important. I could install an aftermarket hitch but I wanted to see what else I was missing.

Re: What comes with Big Tow

Hitch, tranny temp gauge, taller gearing, bigger mirrors, prewired for trailer lights.

You'd only be missing the trailer pre-wiring, larger capacity battery ad alternator, tranny temp guage (all Titans have the same tranny cooler), and the hitch itself. All Titans also come with the tow mode switch.

Big tow Titans are pre-wired for trailer brake controllers. All Titans (at least my 2004 XE non-BT was) should be pre-wired for lights. For Titans without a hitch, the harness that plugs into the hitch receiver is zip-tied above the frame, when the receiver is added, you cut the zip tie, pull the harness down and just plug it into the receiver, easy. The trannie cooler is not any bigger than a non-BT, you just get the trannie temp gauge.

Re: What comes with Big Tow

Since you are towing 0nly 3500 to 4000 lbs the non big tow can handle that easily. The OR has the same gearing as the BT so that's not a problem there. If your only concern is the towing capacity don't worry too much.

Re: What comes with Big Tow

Thanks for all the info. The tranny cooler was the main worry. I don't need a gauge and I can handle the wiring and such. Anyway great info so thanks. Hopefully I will end up with Titan one of these days.

Re: What comes with Big Tow

yeah i dont see why the towing capacity would be any lower the gears are the same the mirrors wont help in towing they may be easier to see out of but the truck can stilll tow the same. especially with the same gearing speaking of could i just replace the gears in side the diff if i dont have BT or OR pkg?

The guys on here who have asked their dealer about that were told "it can be done, but it would be in the thousands".

You could swap the gear out. You will however need the ability to flash your ECU with the BT data or your speed will be thrown off causing problems such as cruise control not working amd speedometer reading wrong.
