what kind of antenna is that, and any pics of the cb mounted?
i just picked up 16 gauge steel from Lowes for $10 and will be making my bracket tomorrow... pics to follow
Don't have the cb installed yet. Antenna came from a local truck stop.
You could have bought the whole mount for 16.00

HI, I may start another thread on this question but have you noticed any noise from your fuel pump coming through the receive on your CB??
I Just got my Titan and completed the installation of a CB (cobra 29) to be exact and I get alot of noise from the fuel pump coming through.I know it;s the fuel pump because if i let the truck sit and hit the gas pedal a few times ,when i turn the key over one click I hear the fuel pump pressurize the line through my radio before I even turn the key enough to engage the starter.I had a 2004 nissan Frontier before this truck and I would get deafning noise over a hand held CB just sitting in the car when it was running,I went to the Nissan dealer who sent me to his audio expert who agreed it was my fuel pump generating noise across the the entire cb band . The noise was coming throught the antenna where it was grounded to the truck I even went as far as to power the radio with a extra battery that had no connection to the truck other than powering my CB and was still just as noisy. My dealwer didn't believe my until I took my radioshack hand help 40 channel CB into his lot and got noise as soon as I approached every Nissan he started on the lot.
Some one must have had the same experience as me.
P.S. Tried toroids and filters on power lines made no difference the only thing that helped was ungrounding antenna ,but that made my SWrR s to so high they were unsafe to transmit.
My power is tied in behind the dash. The CB power and antenna goes to a hidden box, and the outlet is a 4 pin receptacle I placed in the 4x4 switch area. Power and Antena goes through the coiled cord to the handset.
My antenna is in a bad place, but works well enough for my twice a year traffic check. It is laid down, behind the passenger seat, up near the window. Totally stealth. Maybe I'll mount it outside in the future, but for now, I need clean looks.
It does have very clean sound, but limited range I'd imagine. Mostly listen when driving interstae 95 to NC and looking for traffic jams. I bought a SWR Meter/Tuner, but it is still in the shed. I'll get it on this week, easy install in back of cab, hidden away.
Note about the OP. I do not see a fuse at the battery, to protect the entire length of power lead. This is critical for your safety.
I just discovered the same situation on a $250,000 truck at work. The wire got shorted in the cab, and melted the entire length of 12 gauge, with no fuse to protect anything, except a few inches the other side of the short, so it did nothing. It almost destroyed the trucks wire harness, not a chance you want to take. Could have been a tragic fire.

Titanic9, If you get a chance take a look at this link. I posted a link to your thread on his. This guy is having some CB problems. When you look at the pictures he sent later in the thread I bet you'll be able to see why!!

Excellent writeup. I was directed here from another thread in V&A. It seems as though you answered every question I had. Especially w/ your SWR numbers. That's probably about as good as one can get w/ that mounting location.
Thanks again for the great info.
Dan

It's RF interference, try a different radio. Power line filters will not help.
